Spreading Cheer: Axis and BLCR’s Festive Charitable Initiative At Axis, the festive season is a time for connecting and giving back to our community. This December, the Axis ESG and EDI Working Groups partnered with BLC Robert & Associates to spearhead a special initiative to spread holiday cheer. Through a vibrant fundraising food sale and a collection drive for Association Amour et Espoir, a nonprofit in La Gaulette, our joint efforts brought joy to underprivileged children. These simple acts of kindness reflect our shared commitment to the community and align with our ESG and EDI objectives. Watch the video to experience these heartwarming moments and see how small gestures, powered by collaboration, can create a significant impact. Let’s continue to spread joy and hope, fostering meaningful change where it matters most. Visit us at: www.axis.mu #AxisCares #CommunityFirst #FestiveJoy #ESG #EDI #AssociationAmourEtEspoir

🌍💙 Today is #GivingTuesday! This global movement reminds us of the power of generosity and how it can transform lives. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply brightening someone’s day, small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity. At Osgoode Properties, one of our core values is #CommunityCare. Supporting the communities where we live, work, and connect is at the heart of what we do. Through our Employee Giving Program, we’ve proudly raised $230,000 since its inception in 2007 to support various charities. Each quarter, employees have the opportunity to make an impact by donating part of their pay to a selected organization. Our 2024 goal is to raise $20,000—and together, we’re making a difference, one step at a time! This #GivingTuesday, let’s all embrace the spirit of generosity and make our communities stronger. 💕 #OsgoodeProperties #GivingBack #CommunityFirst #EmployeeGiving #MakeADifference #PropertyManagment #MultiFamily #OsgoodeCares

Love the questions that arise from reading the article referenced below. What are your thoughts about the idea of optimizing results and how that should be applied to charitable giving? What goes into your decision making when allocating your charitable dollars?
Thought-provoking article by Emma Goldberg in the NYT critiquing effective altruism (see link below in comments). Just as we encourage donors to give intentionally to enhance the meaning they find through charitable giving, she encourages donors to follow their hearts rather than the data: There’s something especially raw about the impulse to disentangle optimization and charitable giving. Because unlike the calories we eat and expend, or the hours we sleep and work, charitable giving gets at what we choose to let into our hearts, what fires up our empathy and then churns it into impact. Deciding where to give means deciding what crises move us. Which do you prioritize when making charitable decisions, what feels good or what makes sense? #effectivealtruism #philanthropy #charity #charitablegiving #yearendgiving

The tip for this last of our #7DaysOfGiving is to pass down your values through philanthropy. Supporting the causes you care about financially – and sharing about that support with your family members – is an excellent way to instill the importance of giving back and other such values in the next generation. You might also consider "experiential philanthropy" – involving your children or grandchildren in hands-on volunteer work with causes you support. This not only benefits the community but also teaches invaluable lessons about compassion, gratitude, and social responsibility. Many of our clients at WHZ do just that by working with us to establish a family foundation, donor-advised fund or other charitable giving strategies, and the impact is inspiring to see. 💥 Do you agree that seeing younger generations engaged in social responsibility is inspiring? Our family from nieces and nephews were helping out at a local #Ramadan Iftar distribution. It's heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm for helping others. How do you encourage your children or younger family members to get involved in charitable causes? #FuturePhilanthropists | #SocialImpact | #CSR | #FamilyValues
