For B2B SaaS-embedded Analytics...Vendor Roadmap Flexibility is Key to Differentiation If we focus on visualisation and dashboards, the options available are known and well documented. Tables, charts, gauges, maps, often in combination, are all useful ways to simplify and understand the complexities of data. The real challenge, and opportunity, lies in the value locked-up in the data: - Business Rules that determine what’s good, bad or indifferent. - Calculations, scores/weights, thresholds, logic and triggers that bring anomalies to the fore and help users (and processes) prioritise what needs to be done next. - Parameters that can be fed to the host SaaS application to drive action at scale. These are some of the things that differentiate your SaaS solution for your customers, helping them to determine who or what needs to be scheduled to do what and when, such as: (i) do orders need to be placed because stocks are low across multiple products and locations? (ii) do repairs, preventative service or replacements need to be scheduled across multiple assets in multiple locations? (iii) do prices or offers need to be made for some products in some locations because they are selling less well or reaching sell-by? Visualisation components, custom ones too, provide oversight, but in the end orders have to be placed, servicing made, campaigns executed at scale (just some examples…you know the actions your B2B SaaS empowers). The big takeaway is: Analytics are customised to the use-case, not the other way around. That’s why an embedded analytics platform should help differentiate your analytics to reflect, not just analyze but also drive, the unique value of your B2B SaaS.
