If a person living with dementia values quality of life, at some point, their goal of care might focus FIRST on comfort. Listen for a few of my thoughts when comfort is the goal and we are thinking about what to do when new medical issues happen. Specifically how to think about the ER and hospital stays. I’m helping clients to think this through because I don’t see the current medical system doing so until stressful decisions need to be made or the person is moving towards end of life. It’s always better to think ahead if we want the person to receive the care they would choose for themselves. #DementiaDecisions #PhysicianEducator #DementiaCare #CaregiverTips
