Do you know that Yoga is a complete system of philosophy and the practices contained within Yoga can be prescribed like medicine by Ayurvedic practitioners? There are four main types of yoga: 1. Bhakti (devotion) 2. Karma (work) 3. Raja (royal path) 4. Jnana (knowledge) Within Raja Yoga there are 8 limbs: 1. Yama (restraints) 2. Niyama (habits) 3. Pranayama (breathing) 4. Asana (postures) 5. Pratyahara (sense withdrawl) 6. Dharana (concentration) 7. Dhyana (meditation/contemplation) 8. Samadhi (absorption) The robust nature of this practice means that when you come to a class with an experienced instructor, there is a practice for you. Yoga is meant to meet you where you are at. If physical postures are not for you and you are seeking balance, there may be other strategies to bring you into a feeling of wellbeing. Tell me did you know that yoga was so extensive? Yoga was first mentioned in the text of Rigveda. The aim of Yoga is self-realization, to overcome all kinds of sufferings leading to 'the state of liberation' (Moksha) or ‘freedom’ (Kaivalya). Living with freedom in all walks of life, health and harmony shall be the main objectives of Yoga practice. In today's fast paced environment, yoga becomes more necessary than ever.
