Last week, I had the privilege of sitting on a panel with Joram Mwinamo. Today, I am deeply shaken by the recent events he posted, and I feel compelled to speak out, even though I rarely post anything unrelated to careers here. Two critical issues are weighing heavily on me: 1. The alarming violence against women: Kenya now has the highest rate of femicide in Africa. This is not just a statistic—it is a crisis, a shameful reality that we must confront. Women deserve safety, dignity, and respect, and we must all commit to making this a reality. This violence must stop. 2. The suppression of peaceful demonstrators: The escalating, organized violence against people exercising their right to peaceful protest is deeply troubling. Peaceful dissent is the heartbeat of any democratic society. We must find ways to resolve differences without resorting to brutality. These are not just societal issues—they are reflections of who we are as a people. We must do better. We can do better. Let’s demand accountability, push for systemic change, and be allies in creating a safer, more equitable Kenya for all. Your thoughts?
