"The use of technical and synthetic replicates presents valuable approaches for evaluating essential aspects of bioinformatics algorithms and their influence on genomic reproducibility. The use of technical replicates offers advantages, as it captures the diversity across different sequencing runs. In order to correctly assess bioinformatics tools in terms of genomic reproducibility, it is important to acknowledge that despite efforts to control experimental conditions, variations can arise due to factors such as human errors in sample preparations or unknown batch effects" #Bioinformatics #genomics #reproducibility

🔬💻 **Exciting Journey into Bioinformatics! 🌱🧬** 🗓️ On March 25th, I embarked on an enriching course on Bioinformatics (BIO 201) facilitated by Genomac Hub. 🔍 The course began with fundamental concepts of bioinformatics, and it was fascinating to dive deeper into topics like database utilization, internet tools, and their practical applications, guided by a comprehensive 21-minute video presented by Oluwaseyi Olawale. 🛠️ Majorly utilizing Geneious software, we explored various applications such as gene cloning and primer designing. Additionally, we learnt about different plugins like Kbase, PARIC database, Reactome, and Center for Genomic Epidemiology, which proved invaluable in data analysis with different analytical approaches. 🔬 In the second session, a hands-on DNA Sequence Analysis, lasting 49 minutes, provided practical demonstrations. I particularly enjoyed learning how to navigate Geneious software, analyzing a whole genome sequence of bacillus spp downloaded from the NCBI database, and utilizing different tools for gene analysis and primer design. 🌿 Subsequent sessions covered Comparative Genome Analysis and its applications in Microbial plant and animal research. The final session, led by Maryam Idress Malik, focused on constructing WGS-based phylogenetic Trees for bacterial Genomes using PEPR and ITOL. 💡 This course went beyond a certificate; it broadened my understanding of Bioinformatics significantly. I'm grateful for the insights gained and look forward to applying them in my future endeavors! #Bioinformatics #LearningJourney 🚀 #Gen'Omics Research Hub (Genomac Hub)

When it comes to unvieling secrets of microorganisms cryptic life cycle stages and its novel variants, clarifying the #taxonomy and #nomenclature, techniques such as long-read sequencing (LRS) are essential. LRS is the 21st century #technology that allows highly accurate genome assembly in all types of organisms, from bacteria to humans. Using #PacBio HiFi LRS direct analysis of nucleic acids in a sample (without prior amplification) is possible, which not only provides the base composition data, but also base modifications information (e.g. methylation). I am fascinated by this technique and can't wait to apply it in Giardia research! https://lnkd.in/dG4PHBEE #DNA #RNA #sequencing #genomics #epigenomics #metagenomics #giardia #giardiasis #snp #basemodifications
