Across the Atlantic, Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (Continental) is conducting two parallel recalls. The largest relates to Continental’s ProContact GX AO tyres. According to US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) filings, centres on size 255/35R19 96H XL fitments of the tyre made between 9 May 2021 and 17 August 2024 and relates to potential belt separation issues. Continental reports that ProContact GX AO was mainly sold as an OE fitment for the Audi A4/A5. But approximately 10 per cent of the affected tyres were sold in the US replacement market.  As many as 146,568 tyres are covered by the recall and Continental estimates that 100 per cent have the described defect. https://lnkd.in/eW9KDFrd

This is cool. Auto Trader UK will be sharing brand new research into UK car buyer attitudes towards Chinese brands at this event. We all know about products, batteries, scale, speed, ambitions, but nobody’s yet thought to ask buyers what they think. It’s an untold story and super-important. Chinese brands on the Hannover stage As the world's largest commercial vehicle show, the 2024 Hannover Motor Show in Germany attracted 2,300 commercial vehicle manufacturers from around the world. Among them, Chinese exhibitors are the largest group of international exhibitors at this exhibition, with more than 460, which has doubled from 2022. SAIC MAXUS is already a familiar customer of Hannover. On September 16, SAIC MAXUS made its debut at the Hannover Motor Show and announced the global launch of the medium-to-large pure electric four-wheel drive pickup truck eTerron 9 built on the Interstellar GST platform. This is the world's first medium-to-large Chinese brand pure electric pickup truck exported overseas. Six years ago, SAIC MAXUS landed at the Hannover Motor Show for the first time, bringing the new EV80, becoming the first truly original light pure electric wide-body light passenger car in Europe. At the Hannover Motor Show two years ago, SAIC MAXUS brought the T90 EV. It is the first mass-produced pure electric pickup truck in Europe and the first pure electric pickup truck of a Chinese brand to land in the European market, achieving a zero breakthrough for Chinese brands in the European pure electric pickup truck market. This time, SAIC MAXUS, which arrived in Hannover for the third time, opened a new journey for Chinese new energy pickup trucks to land in Germany, plant flags in Europe, and lead the world with the pure electric pickup truck eTerron 9. From its establishment in 2011 to 2023, SAIC MAXUS has achieved 12 consecutive years of positive growth in single-brand sales, with a compound growth rate of 68%. However, more important than these eye-catching data is that SAIC MAXUS has slowly tempered itself into a shining global Chinese brand business card in 13 years. This is obviously more difficult to do than simply increasing sales and market share.
