“Looking for a Fair and beautiful bride…” - The typical matrimony ad “Use Sunscreen with SPF 50 to retain your fair glow” - The typical beauty ad “Have milk with saffron and not tea when you are pregnant” - The typical concerned voice “Even though he is dark, he is still handsome” - The typical reasoning Colour and race are not concerns only of the West. They are very much an unspoken aspect in Indian society. While we may celebrate dark skinned actors as superstars, are we free sterotypical ideas of good looks and skin colour going together? Let’s confront the Beauty Bias Let’s accept that we are diverse - In skill, competence, gender, beliefs and colour. Let’s normalise talking about colour in the workplace. It definitely means addressing an intersectional conversation about gender, colour and caste. This means we have to unpack privilege. Here’s a video that’s a starting point for us to start thinking about colour, associated biases and what we can potentially do! This is a reminder to embrace the rich diversity of skin tones in India. It calls us to unite in breaking down these stereotypes and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. #BeautyBias #InclusiveWorkplace #Leadership Video Source: JSW

I am in shock. I had a surprising revelation today. While mindlessly scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon a reel discussing how #Bollywood has countless songs praising female beauty, but almost none celebrating male beauty. What I realised: ◽ The perspective itself is missing (at least in India) ◽ Only females are object of beauty, to be savoured by their male counterpart ◽ Women are often obnoxiously waiting for their lovers or shying away from their gaze ◽ Relevant not only in Bollywood, but also pop culture or the western world (from what I can gather) ◽ If at all beauty is talked about (male or female), it is to objectify We need a change. A shift in perspective. What can we do at an individual or an organisational level, you ask? Here you go: ↗ Redefine beauty standards ↗ Don't compare, someone is always better ↗ Promote inclusiveness and representation, it matters! ↗ Encourage expression (writing, films, art, dance, music and a lot more to choose from) ↗ Educate, raise awareness and celebrate Beauty is for all and should be presented the same way. Do you think beauty is correctly represented and celebrated in your country? #InclusiveBeauty #BeautyDiversity #BeautyBeyondGender

Never Look Into the Mirror to Find Beauty. Have you ever noticed how the most beautiful trees aren’t the ones that are perfectly straight and flawless? It’s always the ones with twisted branches, scars from storms, and deep roots that tell a story. That’s the kind of beauty we believe in at Marvelous Mrs. India - the kind that’s shaped by strength, resilience, and the stories we carry. We’re done with outdated definitions of beauty. After all, life doesn’t care if you’re flawless. It throws challenges, setbacks, and obstacles your way. And what makes a woman truly beautiful is how she faces those challenges head-on and keeps pushing forward. That’s what we celebrate at MMI. That’s why we believe that true beauty is not just about how you look but it’s about what you’ve been through. How many times you’ve risen from the ashes, and the impact you’ve made on others. Take Salona Pati, our Season 2 winner. She didn’t take the crown because she fit some narrow beauty ideal. She took it because of her story - teased for her weight, navigating a male-dominated field as a structural engineer, and reclaiming her health on her own terms. Her beauty isn’t in her features - it’s in her strength. So, what if we measured beauty by the battles we’ve fought, not the reflection in the mirror? It’s time we ask our society this question. And let’s celebrate women who shatter the mold, not just fit into it. Because Queen, you weren’t meant to fit in. You were born to stand out. #motivation #women #beautyindustry #life #inspiration

🎥 Art May Well Imitate Life, But Here’s a Powerful Lesson Art Offers back There was a time in the entertainment industry when actresses like Judy Garland, Grace Kelly, or in Bollywood, legends like Nargis and Waheeda Rehman, saw their careers abruptly stall after marriage. Producers feared that marriage would shift their focus away from work leading to potential pregnancies and prioritizing family life over their craft. ✨ Thankfully, times have changed. Today, trailblazing actresses like Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone are proving that marriage or motherhood does not define or diminish a woman’s professional drive. They’re thriving, breaking ceilings, and shattering stereotypes, reminding the world that talent and dedication remain constant, no matter the life choices. 🎬💪 However, the corporate world has yet to catch up. Women across industries are still unfairly overlooked for promotions, leadership roles, and high-stakes projects. Why? Outdated assumptions that marriage or starting a family might cause them to deprioritize professional goals. 💡 Change Begins With Us! If you’ve faced such biases or are passionate about challenging these unethical practices join us at ConnectHer 2025 in Dubai, UAE, on 18 February. 🔗 To Register: Participants: Contact Jessica Mathew or sign up here: https://lnkd.in/dMXgp8Gi Organizations: Contact Anja Tršić or register your organization here: https://lnkd.in/degmKu_c 🤝 Pay It Forward Even if this does not directly affect you right now, share it within your network. Someone you know could benefit from this opportunity to learn, grow, and challenge these outdated norms. Because while family matters, so do talent, ambition, and dreams. Let’s create a future where no one has to choose between them. 💼🌟 #deidubai #BreakTheBias #CH25 #equity #TalentWithoutBars

What is it about a person that makes them truly attractive? Attractive people are not only those with beautiful faces and bodies but also those with attractive hearts. We often get attracted towards good-looking people. This attraction usually fades with time, and sometimes we may forget the face altogether. If someone has ever helped us or stood up for us, added meaning to our lives, and brought a positive change, we always remember that person. Don't just look for the outer beauty in a person, outer beauty is sensitive to time. If you are looking for a long-lasting relationship, find someone with a beautiful heart.
