🦃A Thanksgiving Reflection on the Privilege of Caring This Thanksgiving, while many gather with loved ones around the table, I’ll be working. And though I sometimes feel the pull of FOMO for the laughter and connection of framily (not a typo) dinners, I know this: it’s not a sacrifice. On this day of gratitude, I’m reflecting on one of (my) life’s greatest honors: the privilege of caring for others. In healthcare, we are invited into people’s lives during their most vulnerable moments—times of joy, fear, hope, or uncertainty. What stays with me are not grand gestures, but quiet, profound ones: holding a hand in the ICU (YES- touch is powerful), offering words of comfort, or simply being present when someone needs to know they’re not alone. These moments remind me that caring for others is not just a profession—it’s a calling. This Thanksgiving, I’m deeply grateful for: ✨The patients who trust us to walk alongside them. ✨The families who remind us of the power of love and resilience. ✨The colleagues who embody compassion and dedication every day. (You know who you are!) ✨ MY health (as imperfect as it is) Healthcare is hard, but it is also deeply meaningful. It teaches us about connection, courage, and the shared humanity that binds us all. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let’s remember the power of care, the importance of gratitude, and the impact we can have when we show up for one another. Happy Thanksgiving to all who care, who heal, and who love. #Thanksgiving2024 #Gratitude #HealthcareHeroes #PatientCare #Personalgrowth #Medicine #Compassion #Resilience #CareMatters #HumanConnection #Thankful #HealthcareProfessionals #leadership #LinkedInCommunity

🌿 Exciting News: Care Cottage Crates Is Here! 🌿 After being laid off in August, I found myself reflecting deeply on what truly matters—connection, care, and those small but powerful moments that remind us we’re not alone. That reflection led my sister and I to launch Care Cottage Crates. Colleen Rodenbeck and I have spent years navigating the demands of the corporate world, and we know firsthand how hard it can be to find time to show love and care—for others and for yourself. Deadlines, meetings, and endless to-do lists often leave little room for nurturing meaningful connections or taking a moment to recharge. That’s why we created Care Cottage Crates—to help busy, caring individuals save time while sharing thoughtful, intentional gifts that offer the recipient (or even yourself) a much-needed moment of calm, care, and connection. Inside each crate, you’ll find carefully chosen hand made or designed items, a card with a gentle prompt to inspire connection, and a curated playlist to encourage pause and reflection. Every detail is designed to remind you—or the recipient—to take a deep breath, recharge, and savor the moment. ✨ What’s Next: While we’re dreaming big for 2025, including meaningful corporate gifting solutions, we’d love to be part of your holiday season this year. Whether it’s a heartfelt gift for a team member, loved one, or even yourself, we’re here to make those moments of care easy and memorable. I’d be so grateful for your support as we build this dream into something special. If you’d like to follow along, join our newsletter for updates, inspiration, and a little behind-the-scenes magic. Newsletter sign up link in comments ✨ Thank you to my incredible network of friends, partners, teammates, founders, and leaders—you’ve inspired me more than you know. I can’t wait to share what’s next. #CareCottageCrates #NewBeginnings #IntentionalLiving #ThoughtfulGifting

How often do you ask for help? Asking for help can be tricky, even when it’s asking your family. Friends and family may not be aware of what is involved in your caring role and its demands until you explain it to them. This can be especially true if they have not seen you or the person you care for recently, or there have been changes in your situation. When you have explained your caring role to them, they may be more willing to help you out. Spending time together as a family during the festive period could mean that caring responsibilities are lightened as others may be able to help out. Discuss with your family and friends how they may be able to help at different times of the day to lighten your load. Not only will this mean you are getting extra support and you don’t have to worry about the person you care for, it also means that you may be able to take a well-earned rest, even if it is just to enjoy a mince pie in the quiet or spend an afternoon doing a bit of shopping for presents. We’d love to know your ideas when it comes to getting help from friends and family, tell us in the comments. #CopingDuringTheFestiveSeason #CaringAtChrismtas #CaringDuringTheFestiveHoliday #TheHolidays #Christmas

With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are busy picking out the perfect presents for our loved ones. And as parents, we all want to find the best gift for our children, no matter their age. But here's a thought—what if the greatest gift we could give them isn't wrapped in shiny paper or tied with a bow? The gift of health—both physical and mental—is one of the most valuable things we can offer our kids. Staying healthy ourselves takes time and effort, but the rewards go far beyond just feeling good ourselves. It’s about giving our children the opportunity to live life to the fullest. Being healthy isn’t just about avoiding being a burden when we’re unwell (though, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to avoid that?). In most cases, our loved ones are happy to step in and help us out when we need it. But by staying healthy—physically and mentally—we set ourselves and our families up for a more fruitful and fulfilling life. So this holiday season, let’s make a commitment to gift our children the best present of all: the gift of health. 🌈 Let’s work together to make it a priority, not just for now, but for the long run! 😉 #bestgift #Christmas #goodhealth #stayhealthy #children

We've all heard of the iconic Naughty or Nice List - a staple fixture in making sure Christmas runs smoothly; but thanks to a combination of global population change, legacy approaches to evidence management, and technology that had not kept pace with digital change, this Christmas staple simply wasn’t keeping up. Massive mistakes were creeping in, leaving well-behaved children marked as Naughty—and raising some serious questions about Christmas equity. This ultimately left our client, Mr. Claus, struggling to meet the demanding deadlines of the holiday season; and for an operation built on magic and trust, this was a Christmas morning wake-up call. Alexander Thring, one of our Senior Consultants, said: "Transforming Christmas can't happen in a silo; you can't skip a year just to make change happen! We're often asked to change the tyre whilst the car is in motion, but we weren't prepared to unwrap) just how hard Santa's elves have to work to keep the magic of Christmas going. We couldn't help but think there was a better way - and we're really proud of what we've enabled Santa's Workshop to deliver." Stay tuned to see how Santa’s Workshop tackled one of the biggest festive challenges ever! #ServiceDesign #DesignThinking #ChristmasSpirit #DigitalTransformation #ChangeManagement
