Aston Martin’s Grand Prix Dream: A Bold Beginning on the Race Track 🏁 The early 1920s marked the dawn of Aston Martin’s Grand Prix racing journey—a story fueled by ambition, camaraderie, and a touch of daring. It all began when co-founder Lionel Martin crossed paths with Count Louis Zborowski, a man of wealth and a deep passion for motorsport. Together, they ignited a dream that would shape Aston Martin’s racing legacy. Zborowski, commissioned two race cars—chassis TT1 and TT2. The cars first roared to life at the 1922 French Grand Prix in Strasbourg. The results? Mixed. While both cars retired with engine issues the dream of Grand Prix racing was officially underway. Aston Martin was learning, growing, and laying the groundwork for a storied heritage. Zborowski’s untimely death in 1924 brought this chapter to a close, his vision and spirit live on in every Aston Martin that takes to the track today. Dream big, work hard, and never give up. My entire life has been spent on wheels—whether on a dirt bike, in a UTV, behind the wheel of R/C cars, or navigating daily life in my wheelchair. Through it all, I have been inspired, motivated, and encouraged by so many incredible people. When I started racing R/C cars nearly 20 years ago, my dream was to become a World Champion. Today, I still aim to be a successful racer and win races, but my dream has evolved into returning the inspiration, motivation, and support I've received over the years to others through the world of R/C—as more than just a racer. What once seemed like a distant dream has become a reality. I've been given the incredible opportunity to be more than just a racer as I take on the role of Brand Ambassador as well as Team Driver for Team Associated —which includes the Team Associated, Reedy, Factory Team, and Element RC brands. With that being said, I am very excited to be combining my efforts, vision, and goals with the AE team on and off the race track, for the remainder of 2024 and beyond. The moral of the story is: I am not a National Champion; I am not a World Champion—in fact, I am nothing more than a kid at heart who still likes to dream big. If I can dream it and do it, anyone can and should too. Anything is possible—it's up to you to prove it. I can’t wait to share the projects we’ve already been working on, with many more to come. The energy at Interlagos last weekend was truly remarkable as the #Formula1 Brazilian Grand Prix brought together top engineering talent, technology, and a passion for racing. Spending an afternoon with the British teams McLaren Racing and Aston Martin F1 Team, along with their brilliant engineers, was a fantastic opportunity to witness firsthand the high caliber of British expertise in advanced engineering — a field in which the UK is a global leader. It was also great to have a friendly conversation with Felipe Drugovich, Brazil’s own emerging F1 talent, whose determination and skill reflect the shared commitment to excellence in motorsport across both our nations. A standout moment was seeing the iconic McLaren MP4/5B — the very car Ayrton Senna drove in 1990. It returned to the track on Sunday, now driven by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. This gesture not only celebrated Senna’s legacy but also showcased the profound heritage that links Brazil and the UK in motorsport. The advanced engineering that powers Formula 1 demonstrates the UK's potential as a partner for Latin American companies seeking innovation and performance excellence. Whether it’s cutting-edge automotive technology, sustainable solutions, or enhanced production methods, British expertise can support transformative developments across sectors.
