Polyvinyl chloride (#PVC) #discoloration is a common issue that affects its appearance and performance. This discoloration results from several degradation processes: thermal, UV, chemical, and oxidative. Thermal degradation causes dehydrochlorination and polyene formation, leading to yellowing. UV exposure accelerates this by breaking polymer chains, resulting in further discoloration and surface damage. Chemical exposure to acids and solvents induces stains and color changes, while oxidation at high temperatures exacerbates these effects by producing oxidative byproducts that discolor PVC. #Nanoclays, particularly organo-modified layered double hydroxides (OM-LDHs), can effectively prevent PVC discoloration. OM-LDHs enhance thermal stability by neutralizing hydrochloric acid and slowing degradation. They absorb UV radiation, providing uniform protection for the polymer matrix. Additionally, these nanoclays improve chemical resistance by forming protective barriers and neutralizing corrosive agents. Their antioxidant properties reduce free radicals, mitigating oxidative damage. Integrating nanoclays into PVC formulations significantly reduces discoloration, thereby enhancing both the durability and aesthetic quality of PVC products. #Nanoparmin #durability #UV #degradation #protection
