ESG has become the most important disrupter of the luxury industry. While larger groups and brands have started to adapt to new realities, smaller companies seem to be either unaware about the new era of consciousness or helpless to define modern strategies and operational programs to adjust. In an op-ed, my colleague Patrice Müller and I are providing an overview about how ESG is affecting the high-end industry and describing means to prepare for more challenging times in the future. I totally love the work done here. MVRDV's chain of thought is so progressive. Tiffany's sustainability goals are exemplary. I wish ALL designers, architects & engineers would ride on Tiffany's lead to take on sustainability goals through BE3DP. Let us all LEAD in our own ways to remove waste plastic from our habitats. The Hamilton Labs BE3DP Ecosystem attempted to work on this iconic work. The meaning behind this work is the designers' drive to allow 3DP as the core methodology with OBP as the material to achieve Tiffany's sustainability goals. BEAUTIFUL confluence of goals!!! To those, as Jarett Gross said, "lazy architects", designers and engineers who have yet to adopt DfAM & DfMA, I sincerely hope you start or MVRDV will dominate, especially after this work for Tiffany. Yes, VOTE FOR AECTUAL! I wish the Hamilton Labs BE3DP Ecosystem will have opportunities to work on such iconic projects! We certainly are ready and able. Yesterday, the 3rd Roundtable on 'ORIGINALLUXURY – Pioneering Transparency Through Technology' unfolded at IMD Lausanne, Switzerland. This exclusive event marked a significant public-private partnership aiming to elevate transparency and collaborations in the evolving luxury industry. In attendance, our CEO, Friedrich Kisters, actively collaborated with stakeholders, contributing to the important discussions and adding value to the ongoing 'Technology For Transparency Report – 2nd Edition' by ORIGINALLUXURY.   Discussions covered progressive technology, digital product passports, raw materials, and partnerships, with insights shared on various aspects. 💡How do we get customers to reward sustainability efforts? Especially for the luxury segment, HOW you implement CSR is key. I recently saw some interesting data on luxury brands and corporate social responsibility. 😮Although some 60% of customers expect luxury brands to be engaged in responsibility efforts, if these efforts aren’t done properly, they can actually be damaging to a brand’s financial performance. This is what’s known as the CSR-Luxury Paradox, and despite increasing pressure on luxury brands to act sustainably, it’s what keeps many from engaging. But research also shows that HOW brands implement CSR is key to overcoming the paradox. Check out the presentation below to learn what kinds of efforts are more likely to be rewarded.
