A dead fish head, a tub of collagen and a bottle of chicken stock... While most days are never the same at DTU Learn for Life, this is definitely a standout moment so far! Coming from a business school, I find it so interesting learning about life sciences. I had no idea little enzymes held so much potential! Especially in converting waste streams - such as bones - to create new, valuable products. While the setting may differ, I see similar fundamental dilemmas emerging and dynamics at play within innovation, complex-problem solving and more specifically in how to commercialise new technologies. This underscores the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches between social and natural science. This intersection is where I love to be and to bring others along too. As part of the EMBA program at DTU Executive Education, our executive students are tasked with working on consultancy projects solving "real-life" strategic problems faced by "real" companies. One of our consultancy projects is with Tailorzyme Aps, it is particularly interesting as the CEO Lars Peter Andersen is also one of our EMBA students! (and a DTU chemical engineering alumni)! I had the pleasure of hearing about his company's unique enzyme solution and its many applications. (in particular the super high grade collagen supplement - where and when can I buy this age-defying product please??!!). Like many new tech ventures, his company is facing some strategic questions when it comes to growing and scaling. With his consultancy project team, they will explore together the various avenues and their implications using the tools and frameworks they have been introduced to in the EMBA program so far. To support learning opportunities where this happens, well, I can't think of a better way to spend my day. 😎 Thank you to Lars Peter Andersen, Tine Rask Licht, Ling Xu and Stephane Guerraz for a most enlightening and enjoyable presentation and discussion! Stig Andersen you have put together a fantastic composition of consultancy teams and companies. Excited to see how these projects unfold...! #crossdisciplinarity #lifelonglearning #emba #consultancyprojects #dtudk #technologyforpeople

Get to meet out team! Today, meet Pierre, Research & Development Intern in our Catalysts business line – who has a lot of great things to say about his time with Evonik. Pierre is a research and development intern in the Catalysis unit of our Smart Materials division – with his next step being a PhD! On-site in Hanau over the summer, he’s been #PartofSomethingSpecial – talking about the meaningful work he does, the team he’s been supported by, and, of course… the great canteen. Pierre explains: "What I like most is the atmosphere in the lab. I have an example of this. We couldn't do any analysis for a few days because our chromatograph was broken. So, we sat there for days trying to fix the chromatograph, and a couple of times we felt like we did it, until we actually did it." Teamwork is a cornerstone of Evonik's culture. Get to know our team a little better here: https://ow.ly/Q1qg50SHIFy #EvonikCaalysts #PartOfSomethingSpecial #catalysts #catalysis #catalystexperts #innovation #sustainability #teamwork

Exciting Mentorship and Sustainable Innovation at FeyeCon 🌱 Today, I’d like to share an aspect of my role at FeyeCon that brings me immense joy: mentoring interns and students who choose to take a practical, hands-on approach to their master’s thesis directly within a company setting. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with more than 30 talented interns from six different EU countries who joined FeyeCon for short- and long-term internships focused on supercritical CO₂ technology. Their projects have spanned a wide range of fields—from pharmaceutical intermediates and food ingredients to recycling plastics, processing fibers, and developing cosmetics. Each year, more students are inspired by the green potential of supercritical CO₂ (scCO₂), eagerly diving into sustainable processes and healthier product development. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the enthusiasm of these young minds as they explore sustainable technology. Their passion assures me that innovation will continue to thrive, pushing scCO₂ to new frontiers. Whether training abroad or pursuing a thesis within an industry setting, these students demonstrate resilience, discipline, and commitment—qualities that are vital to succeed in this evolving field. Some have even become my colleagues, while others have taken different career paths, yet many stay connected, sharing feedback and support on my posts. The journey of scCO₂ has been unique and impactful, from well-known applications like caffeine extraction and essential oil recovery to exciting advancements in fields like batteries, energy storage, and even hydrogen production. FeyeCon, as a platform technology provider, has been fortunate to make significant contributions in process development and equipment construction for these emerging applications—driven by curiosity, research, and innovation. It’s the perfect environment for new graduates to launch their careers! This month, I’m excited to celebrate another graduate success story. Luis Duarte, who completed his MSc at FeyeCon, will defend his thesis on November 15th at NOVA School of Science and Technology in Lisbon. Wishing him all the best—and who knows, perhaps he’ll continue his family tradition of making exceptional wine, where even Vitis vinifera finds new benefits with scCO₂! #FeyeCon #sustainabletechnology #supercriticalCO2 #mentorship #innovation #greentechnology #sustainablefuture #youngtalenthttps://lnkd.in/ebgPmrQk

🎓 Excited to announce my graduation! 🎓 I am incredibly proud to share that I have successfully completed my two Master’s degrees in International Business & Management and Strategic Innovation Management! It has been an exciting and fulfilling journey! For my thesis, "Exploring the Dynamics of a Firm’s International Experience on Innovation Performance in the Biopharmaceutical Industry," I invested a lot of time and effort into gathering the right data, which at times was tricky to find. However, I was able to navigate these obstacles, and the process became instructive and highly fascinating. The hard work ultimately paid off with a final grade of 8, and I am deeply grateful to my supervisors, Bart Postma, PhD and Wim Biemans, for their invaluable guidance and support throughout. 🙏 During this time, I also had the privilege, thanks to the trust and support of Alan Muller, to serve on the hiring committee for the International Business Department at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. This unique experience gave me invaluable insights into how to present oneself professionally and offered an exclusive perspective into the academic world. These experiences have strengthened my passion for international business development, innovation, and sustainability, and I am eager to apply this knowledge to help companies grow and thrive globally. As I look to the future, I am excited to explore opportunities in: 🌍 Global Operations 🌟 International Business Strategy ♻️ Sustainability and Innovation If you know of any opportunities in or nearby Amsterdam or would like to connect, please feel free to reach out—I’d love to hear from you! Here’s to the next chapter! 🚀 #Graduation #InternationalBusiness #Innovation #Sustainability #CareerOpportunities #Gratitude

🌟 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬: 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐘𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐮 🌟 🎓 Meet Yuanyuan Pu, Assistant Lecturer at South East Technological University, Waterford and Project Manager of the Marie Curie Alumni Association Ireland Chapter with expertise in Biosystems and Food Engineering and an IPMA-certified project management diploma. Her journey highlights the power of resilience, adaptability, and seizing opportunities made possible through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) fellowship, promoting both personal and professional growth. 🌍 Dr. Pu’s experience, from Ireland to Spain and beyond, showcases how the MSCA program opens doors for global career development and international collaboration. 🚀 Interested in learning more? Read her reflections on her journey: " 𝐃𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 I completed my PhD in Biosystems and Food Engineering at University College Dublin, Ireland (2013-2017), and then worked as a post-doctoral researcher in Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority (Teagasc, Moorepark Food Research Center, Irland) for a national industrial-led project Dairy Processing Technology Center (DPTC) during 2018-2019. I was awarded a Marie-Curie Fellowship (2020-2023), which was co-funded by European Commission and Teagasc Ireland under the Research Leaders 2025 Programme, during which I had the opportunities to spend 18 months in University of Cordoba (Spain) and another 6 months in a leading Irish dairy company for industry secondment. My current research interests focus on implanting spectral and imaging-based sensing technologies coupled with machine learning for sustainable agri-food system. Throughout my journey from PhD study to current position as an Assistant Lecturer in South East Technological University (SETU, Waterford, Ireland), I am grateful to have met wonderful people who strongly support me in the up and downs. The MSCA fellowship is a fantastic opportunity for me to explore international collaboration between academic and industry and enhance my career development through tailored training plans. From the training offered by the MSCA fellowship, I have significantly advanced my skills, extended my network, and mostly importantly gained a clear picture in navigating my career path. The narrative title “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” is from the 26th U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt, which has been inspiring me through the years. Everyone is different, we all come from different cultures, have different family status, and work in different areas. I believe that making the most of what we have, where we are, and focus on doing our best, it will lead us to the way that we like! "
