In an article for the Baker Institute Center for the United States and Mexico, Miriam Grunstein said the most likely scenario was for a regulatory dept to be created within the energy ministry, operating under the authority of the energy secretary. This would deal "a fatal blow to regulatory oversight." https://lnkd.in/gHEkud6P

"European Commission calls on Member States to transpose agreed rules to accelerate permitting procedures for renewable energy projects" - Being conservative and arguably slow has its advantage in being consistent. Decisions that spent decades in the making will take decades to change, and until then, they will be enforced persistently and consistently. With the advanced Renewable Energy and CleanTech in China, we are working to contribute to accelerating the European agenda on clean energy. The question remains: How do we capture the Green Finance opportunities in facilitating the brown-to-green transition and supporting this global shift? #RenewableEnergy #GreenTransition #ClimateAction #CleanTech #Sustainability #GreenFinance https://lnkd.in/gd3EGqtv

The US Supreme Court just reshaped the US energy regulatory landscape by shifting power from the federal agencies to the courts in three landmarking decisions. Attached is our Dentons alert on the subject authored by my partners Clinton Vince, Emma Hand and Simon Steel, three top-tier energy lawyers. In this alert Clint, Emma and Simon describe how the SCOTUS decisions in the Loper, Jarkesy and Corner Post cases are impacting the US energy landscape. Great read!

Speeding up permitting has to be the lowest cost measure available to make the energy transition happen in the timescale that we need it. But only ONE Member State has transposed the agreed rules to accelerate permitting procedures - Denmark. More progress is needed and I welcome the EU's scrutiny. https://lnkd.in/ehCUVGTZ Commission takes action to ensure complete and timely transposition of EU directivesec.europa.eu

🇺🇸 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 | 𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 '𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲' 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 | 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 The US Supreme Court's conservative majority, in one of its most significant rulings in years, has thrown out a landmark, 40-year-old precedent under which courts have offered federal agencies significant leeway in deciding how to regulate the energy sector and other industries. In a 6-3 ruling that marks a major blow to President Joe Biden's administration, the court's conservatives overturned its 1984 ruling Chevron v. NRDC that for decades has served as a cornerstone for how judges should review the legality of federal regulations when a statute is not clear. But chief justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, said experience has shown the precedent is "unworkable" and became an "impediment, rather than an aid" for courts to analyze what a specific law requires.
