Balance Period’s Post

Sickle cell anemia is an inherited blood disorder that alters red blood cells, making them stiff and sticky, which blocks blood flow and leads to anemia. While early detection and new treatments now allow many with the condition to live longer, it still poses serious health risks. Sickle cell anemia primarily affects people of African descent, as well as those from regions with high malaria prevalence. Symptoms can range from fatigue and pain in babies to severe organ damage in adults. Despite advances, access to effective treatment remains a challenge in many parts of the world.
