Friday's Beyond Leadership with LEADERSHIP HARRISBURG AREA was a full day of focus on the 10 Essentials of Servant Leadership and a great follow up from my CLS class. Servant Leadership is not about the number of non profit organizations served by an individual, or the number of hours spent attending board meetings or community events. That is community service and it is very important. Servant Leadership, however, is about one person making an investment in the growth and development of another person; it's one person putting another's needs before their own. It happens at home, at work, and in the community, and it is very important. There is a huge difference between the two. Take this course to find out :)

💭 TotW: A Hall of Fame doesn’t mean you're a good person. 🙃 This one has me conflicted... Over the last year, I’ve seen several colleagues inducted into their respective Halls of Fame for their remarkable contributions to their fields. Objectively, their achievements are significant. But if I’m honest, I can’t ignore how unpleasant some of these individuals are to deal with. Those colleagues in question are openly self-serving, abrasive and rude. Happy to gaslighting those around them to inflate their own egos... so my question is - should a Hall of Fame consider not just the contribution but the means of collaboration too? On one hand, a Hall of Fame exists to honor contributions—it's not meant to assess personality or character. But on the other hand, recognition comes with influence. People look up to these individuals as role models, aspiring to emulate their paths. Shouldn't how they treat others, how they lead, and the integrity they demonstrate also matter? What kind of legacy do we really want to be celebrating? What's our benchmark? #Leadership #ThoughtLeadership

Creating an inclusive workplace demands intentional time and focus for all of us, and I’m honored to be recognized in this category with so many amazing humans! In case you need a reminder of how this impacts culture and actual business results, here are 3 great stats to share with your organizations! 1. A study by Deloitte found that organizations with inclusive cultures are 6 times more likely to be innovative and agile, and 8 times more likely to achieve better business outcomes. 2. According to a report by McKinsey, companies in the top quartile for gender diversity on executive teams are 21% more likely to outperform their industry peers in terms of profitability. 3. The Harvard Business Review reported that organizations with diverse and inclusive workplaces see higher employee engagement, increased employee retention, and improved productivity.
