Celebrating Wellness and Growth with WINGS As we close out the year, I reflect with immense gratitude on the journey of WINGS and its impact on our community. One of the community project, Successful Ageing, (video below) holds a special place in my heart. It honors the unsung heroes—the first generation who migrated to the UK, contributing immensely to its economy while paving the way for a second generation of professionals and successful entrepreneurs. Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust gave me the opportunity to create a space for this small community in Sutton Coldfield to connect, beat loneliness and bring shift in lifestyle for a healthier and happier progressive years. WINGS is serving the community through Funders as wings is more than just an acronym or a concept. It’s a movement—one rooted in Wellness, Inspiration, Growth, and Self-leadership. This year, we’ve celebrated many incredible moments: 🌟 Empowering individuals to embrace their personal growth journeys. 🌟 Strengthening bonds within communities through shared values and understanding. 🌟 Witnessing the transformative power of resilience and mindfulness in action. These stories remind us of the purpose behind WINGS: To uplift one another, create spaces for connection and healing, and champion wellness as a foundation for thriving lives and communities. As we celebrate this journey together, I encourage you to reflect: How can we continue to integrate the spirit of WINGS into our personal lives, families, and professional spaces? What can we do to ensure our communities continue to flourish? To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. Let’s keep soaring together, creating a brighter, more connected future. #WINGS #CommunityWellness #SuccessfulAgeing #GrowthMindset #Leadership #Celebration

Just released at the 3rd annual Wellness Real Estate & Communities Symposium in New York, the "Wellness Real Estate: Market Growth (2019-2023) and Future Developments" report from the nonprofit Global Wellness Institute (GWI) reveals that wellness real estate has been by far the fastest-growing market in the 11-sector wellness economy in recent years, surging from $225 billion in 2019 to $438 billion in 2023. To put that 18.1% recent growth rate in perspective, the annual growth rate for overall global construction was only 5.1%. This report is free to download for all, thanks to the generous donations made by individuals and organizations to the nonprofit GWI, the leading global research and educational resource for the global wellness industry. Not all time off has to involve passports and sandy beaches (though I highly recommend them! 😉). Staycations can be just as rejuvenating if you do them right. Vacation: A chance to disconnect and explore new places. Staycation: A chance to rest, reset, and reconnect with yourself or loved ones at home. Tips for both: ✨ Plan activities that bring you joy. ✨ Unplug from work completely. ✨ Make it intentional—no chores or errands allowed! Which do you prefer, staycation or vacation? Let me know! #StaycationOrVacation #TakeYourTimeOff #WorkLifeHarmony #NonprofitLife #SelfCareForLeaders #LeadershipMatters #RestAndRecharge

August is a month filled with opportunities to enhance your #companyculture. Here are a couple of ideas to kickstart the momentum for you and your team: To Do: - Conduct a PTO audit: With five months remaining in the year, ensure your team is utilizing their earned PTO. Encourage them to plan a vacation before the year ends. - Keep promises: Revisit commitments made during annual reviews such as training or mentorship. Ensure you are on track before the Q4 crush. Upcoming Holidays: - 8/2: International Beer Day, National Ice Cream Sandwich Day, National Water Balloon Day. (Celebrate all three to make HR's day) - 8/4: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day - 8/10: National Bowling Day - Team bonding opportunity - 8/16: National Hawaiian Shirt Day (Special mention to Bill Lundburg) Service Opportunity: Consider donating school supplies or adopting a teacher to give back to the community. August is also National Wellness Month, presenting a great chance to reboot any wellness initiatives that may have been forgotten. Let's prioritize wellness, take those steps, and perhaps indulge in an ice cream sandwich. #CompanyCulture #WellnessMonth #EmployeeEngagement

Embarking on volunteer work amidst life's fast-paced nature and personal challenges offers a transformative experience that benefits both the individual and the community. My journey with an autoimmune disease underscored this. Volunteering shattered my isolation and instilled a profound sense of belonging and purpose. It taught me that despite my condition, my life holds invaluable worth and potential for growth. Volunteering is a profound catalyst for self-discovery and healing. It fosters a deep connection with others and nurtures resilience, hope, and unparalleled joy within oneself. It demolishes the barriers of isolation and self-doubt, replacing them with a community spirit and a shared mission. Research backs the emotional and physical health benefits of volunteering, which range from enhanced life satisfaction and self-esteem to diminished feelings of depression. Through my experiences, I realized that volunteering offered me a lifeline, a second chance at life amidst the despair of chronic illness. It embodies the essence of Henry David Thoreau's perspective on goodness as an unfailing investment. Regardless of its scale, every small act of kindness can significantly impact others, enriching lives with hope and optimism. Volunteering is not just a choice; it's an empowering and life-affirming decision. It encourages us to view life through a broader lens, appreciating our contributions to the greater good. It invites us to question how we can integrate our unique threads into the vast fabric of humanity, emphasizing that in giving, we receive, discovering missing pieces of ourselves in the process. This narrative offers hope and a new direction for those similarly navigating the complexities of autoimmune diseases or other personal challenges. Wellbeing is really important to me and I think should be at the core of everything we do - something we keep in mind constantly in our work and our personal lives. We often focus on the most visible aspects of wellbeing: physical and mental health, diet, exercise, sleep, socialization etc. - but I find there to be incredible value in optimizing or considering subtle aspects of wellbeing too. Being a part of and running this annual wellness challenge has been really rewarding and I want to take it a step further this year to develop some of these subtle aspects of wellness. Things like being aware of my internal and external responses to situations where my expectations aren't met. This could be stubbing my toe, some chore taking longer than anticipated, or someone else needing something from me when I am trying to accomplish something for myself. If I find myself getting annoyed or upset, even subtly, how can I learn to overcome that internal friction and accept and enjoy these experiences. Enjoy being surprised by the pain of stubbing my toe and using it as an opportunity to be more conscious and aware of my movement and the placement in space of my legs and feet as I move about. Clear my mind of any notions of other things I need to do when completing a chore and immerse myself in that task - meditating on the process and enjoying the order I am creating. Embrace the opportunity to serve someone else - helping to improve their experience, their day and add to their wellbeing when called upon - realizing that whatever I wanted to do probably wasn't nearly as fulfilling as that anyway. I hope you can take a moment this month to mull over these examples and see how you can address wellbeing on a subtle level as well. There are opportunities all the time all around us.

On finding flow... Did you know that among the six human needs, growth and contribution are the final two that bring lasting and sustainable happiness? So why is contribution important in life, and what does it truly mean to contribute? How can we expand the concept of contribution to foster a sustainable, happy workplace? In our all-new blog post, we'll explore the idea of contribution, its role as one of the six human needs, and its power as a catalyst for sustainable happiness. Contribution doesn’t always involve financial donations or official volunteering. It can be as simple as sharing your ideas in the workplace, offering support to a co-worker, or being there for a friend. Small, thoughtful actions can make a significant impact, both personally and collectively. I believe in the power of community engagement and wellness. Being part of this project has been so inspiring with the immense dedication, efforts, small miracles, and sheer enthusiasm for a shared goal within my community. Part of my value & goal system is being a well rounded human, not being solely defined by one of my characteristics labels (lab, mom, wife etc.). We are defined by more than just our “9-5”. An inability to balance out these realities is when we see “dis”ease creep in, depression, anxiety, and issues with wellness. Humans intrinsically want to be more than just their job. A little plug, if you’re local and are interested in volunteering, check out the link below. For those who are not, consider in your wellness plans how you are not only doing the fun wellness activities at work that are important for team building, but also what are you doing to allow people to be a more full representation of themselves outside of work. https://lnkd.in/gVhtNQQs https://lnkd.in/gYfFvPPP

#Day7 - MONEY VS TIME The Psychological Impact of Time and Money As we journey through life, it’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of financial success. However, at the end of it all, the true measure of our legacy is not the amount of money we accumulated, but the impact we had on others and the memories we created. Legacy is about the lasting imprint we leave on the world. It’s the sum of our actions, the relationships we build, and the positive changes we inspire. While financial success can provide comfort and opportunities, it is the intangible aspects of life that often hold the most value. Time spent with loved ones, contributions to society, and personal achievements are what truly matters. One of the most significant aspects of our legacy is the time we spend with family and friends. These moments create lasting memories and strengthen bonds that endure long after we are gone. Prioritizing time with loved ones over material pursuits can lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. It could be as simple as sharing a meal, celebrating milestones or just being present, these interactions are the foundation of our legacy. In a world that often equates success with wealth, it’s essential to remember that time is our most valuable resource. Unlike money, time cannot be earned back once it’s spent. By prioritizing time over money, we can focus on what truly matters and create a legacy that reflects our values and aspirations. Here are the things you should start doing from now on to place more value on time 1. Set Priorities: Identify what matters most to you and allocate your time accordingly. This might mean spending more time with family or volunteering for a cause you care about. 2. Simplify Your Life: Reduce distractions and unnecessary commitments that take away from meaningful activities. 3. Invest in Relationships: Build and nurture relationships with those who matter most. 4. Give Back: Find ways to contribute to your community and support causes you believe in. This can be through volunteering, donations, or advocacy. 5. Reflect and Adjust: Regularly reflect on how you spend your time and make adjustments as needed. Ensure that your actions align with your values and long-term goals. #MentalHealth #day7of10 #WellBeing #TimeManagement #WorkLifeBalance #PersonalGrowth #Happiness
