The Positive Coaching Alliance does an outstanding job recognizing the efforts of those who are making a real difference in the lives of young athletes. Most female runners still follow training plans that are made for men. And that's not OK. It increases injury rates, reduces progress, and makes training more challenging for women. Our vision at Ultra Trail Coaching is to offer training plans tailored to our athletes' unique qualities and preferences. But we needed to catch up with our female runners. That's why we're excited that we now have an algorithm that considers women's unique qualities and challenges. We could design this based on the latest science thanks to Amélie BERTSCHY, pro-runner and menstrual cycle/sport scientist. From now on, female athletes who want to train according to their cycle can do so with Ultra Trail Coaching.
Proud to share that from now on, we offer a female athlete-specific adaptive training plan with Ultra Trail Coaching! While we have always focused on individualized and adaptive training plans with UTC, by following up and reacting to changes in HRV, Resting Heart Rate, Perceived Effort and much more, we never included the very specific needs and adaptations for female athletes... until now! Happy to have partnered up for this with fellow On athlete Amélie BERTSCHY , Master of Sciences in Sports Health and an expert in the field of coaching female athletes.

Brilliant conversation set out below that explains why and how some common myths and assumptions about competitive sport need to be challenged - and moving on from a binary frame of whether it's good to be competitive or not, to asking, how best to be usefully competitive in school sport - also applicable beyond #longwinthinking #redefinesuccess #culture #winning #purpose #meaning #learning #strivetogether #thelongwin
Following the PADSIS: The Professional Association of Directors of Sport in Independent Schools webinar with Chris Dossett on Friday, I wanted to share this conversation between two coaches on WHY and HOW we should make school sport fixtures as closely competitive as we can. It is a chat between an Experienced School Coach (ESC) and somebody New to Coaching (NTC). Please read and let me know any thoughts for V.2. Pearl of wisdom alert! Coach David Thorpe, renowned skills coach for elite professional basketball players, shared an incredible insight this week: "Mistakes are the textbook." According to Coach Thorpe, the best shooting coach on the planet, mistakes are an opportunity to learn, grow, and ultimately succeed. He encourages his players to give maximum effort and embrace their mistakes as a valuable part of the learning process. What a great reminder that even the best of the best make mistakes, and it's how we respond to them that can make all the difference. #motivation #learningopportunities #successmindset

🏀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 🏀 In high school, I had a quirky basketball coach who used to say things like, "You're going to run until I get tired." And when he smiled, you knew some serious running was about to commence. Despite all of his idiosyncrasies, he was an excellent basketball coach. One thing he taught me that has stuck with me all these years is: 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁. He adjusted the old adage, "Practice Makes Perfect," because he believed if you practice doing something the wrong way, that would become permanent. Practice alone doesn't make perfection; you have to be practicing the right things. Otherwise, you'll pick up a lot of bad habits that are hard to break. This lesson has been invaluable to me—learning the right way to do something is crucial before making a habit out of it. This principle applies to every aspect of life, from professional skills to personal development. Make sure you're building the right habits from the start. #PracticeMakesPermanent #LifeLessons #ContinuousLearning #SkillDevelopment #HabitFormation #PersonalGrowth
