When a grocery store chain looks at where their customers live on a map, they are often not in a neat, 5 km radius with the store in the middle. Geographical layouts and traffic links to name just two factors make movement patterns unpredictable, and anything but a concentric circle. This means that drawing a 5 km geo-fence around your stores is not as efficient as you might think. With that in mind, at Taptap Digital we first add the physical location of the stores (and often their competitor’s store too) onto a map, then layer on the geographic distribution of their ideal customer, profiled using on and offline georeferenced data, from which we then create bespoke area-based marketing strategies that are activated at specific contextual moments relevant to that audience or area to drive maximum impact.
