🕊️ Today, June 19th, is International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. At Pathways Counseling Services, we stand in solidarity with survivors and call for an end to these heinous crimes. 💔🙏 Sexual violence during conflict has long been considered an unfortunate consequence of war, with victims often suffering in silence. It's time to break that silence and demand change. 🗣️✊ On this day, we commemorate the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1820, which condemns sexual violence as a tactic of war and an obstacle to peacebuilding. We honor the courage of all survivors and pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to eradicating these crimes. 🕯️💪 At Pathways Counseling Services, we understand the devastating impact this type of violence has on individuals and communities. Our compassionate therapists are here to provide a safe space for survivors to heal, reclaim their power, and find hope for the future. 🩺💞 It's crucial that we raise awareness about sexual violence in conflict and work together to prevent these atrocities from occurring. By empowering and protecting women and girls, we can save lives and build a world where everyone can live free from fear and violence. 🌍🔒 On this International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, let us recommit ourselves to the fight for justice, equality, and peace. Together, we can create a world where no one has to endure the trauma of sexual violence. 🤝🕊️ #EliminateSexualViolence #SupportSurvivors #PathwaysCounselingServices #ScottsdaleAZ

📢 It's Time to Break the Silence: Domestic Abuse in the UK Across their lifetime, 1 in 3 women, around 736 million, are subjected to physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner or sexual violence from a non-partner – a number that has remained largely unchanged over the past decade. It's an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge societal norms, and push for meaningful change. 🧡 What you can do: Educate yourself and others about domestic abuse. Domestic violence transcends all boundaries—age, race, social standing, and profession. Startling statistics reveal that **7 in 10 women** face physical or sexual violence in their lifetimes, and for women between the ages of **15 and 44**, the likelihood of experiencing domestic abuse or sexual assault surpasses that of facing cancer or a car accident. These numbers underscore a tragic reality that highlights the need for ongoing awareness, advocacy, and support for survivors, as well as systemic change to address and prevent domestic violence. Men are increasingly becoming aware that they can play a significant role in ending violence against women. A number of programs and activities have been developed to address the male role in preventing violence against women as a result of this. Men's anti-violence programs are based on the understanding that violence against women affects not only women, but also our children and our entire community. In order to reduce violence, men can change their own attitudes and behaviors as well as intervene to prevent violence among other men. Join Commissioner Salim Adofo and other community leaders as we discuss how we can end domestic violence and sexual assault. https://lnkd.in/enX9pwBw

🚨 16 messages for 16 days of activism against gender-based violence 🚨 📢 Day 2: Responses must be tailored to local need 📢 Responses to domestic abuse must reflect the unique challenges and barriers faced by different groups. At Cordis Bright, our research has shown the importance of robust needs assessments in tailoring interventions to local needs, systems and the experiences of diverse subgroups, including: ➡️ Victim-survivors. ➡️ Perpetrators. ➡️ Children and young people. ➡️ People with protected characteristics ➡️ People from global majority backgrounds. ➡️ LGBTQI+ groups. By implementing tailored approaches based on a strong understanding of need, we can improve the support available to communities affected by domestic abuse. Robust needs assessments can help to: 🔍 Identify local needs and priorities, reflecting different typologies of domestic abuse. 🔍 Highlight gaps in services or barriers to accessing services, improving access for all groups. 🔍 Benchmark priorities and support evidence-based planning to improve outcomes. If you’re interested in assessing need around domestic abuse, violence against women and girls, gender-based violence, or victim services, check out our Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme (DAPP) Needs Assessment Toolkit. The Toolkit provides a comprehensive range of methods and tools designed to support not only perpetrator programmes but also initiatives addressing domestic abuse, violence against women and girls, and broader forms of gender-based violence. Today marks the start of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence On this first day, we turn our focus to physical abuse—one of the most visible and devastating forms of domestic violence. Physical abuse is not just about bruises or injuries; it’s a calculated act to exert power and control, leaving survivors with emotional scars that can last a lifetime. Many women endure this silently, fearing societal judgment or threats to their safety. The statistics are alarming—according to the WHO, 1 in 3 women globally experiences physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, often at the hands of an intimate partner. What can we do? Raise awareness: Share stories, facts, and resources to educate others. Support survivors: Listen without judgment and guide them to appropriate resources. Advocate for change: Push for stricter laws and robust support systems for survivors. As part of NaariSamata’s initiatives, we are committed to advocating for survivors of domestic abuse and providing resources to help them rebuild their lives. Over the next 16 days, we’ll shine a light on various aspects of abuse to break the silence and drive change. Let’s work together to create a world where no one lives in fear of violence. #16DaysOfActivism #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #DomesticAbuse #PhysicalAbuse #NaariSamata #SupportSurvivors #NoExcuse #OrangeTheWorld
