Undisciplined children become increasingly undisciplined youths who are acting in youth crime. Society has lost its ways of raising a child due to the innovation in the system. The system has significantly increased enabling children's behaviour and disempowering the parents to discipline their children based on the child's rights. But society is losing the moral of child upbringing. Despite what the government does, youth will continue to escalate because the parents have no power to correct their child's behaviour at a young age. Today society will deeply discipline as physical abuse. Encouragingly, society needs to reflect and see what has changed and why youth crimes are significantly increasing. Once this initiative is taken, the solution can be found.

Child maltreatment is the abuse and neglect that occurs to children under 18 years of age. It includes all types of physical and emotional ill-treatment, which results in actual or potential harm to the child’s health, survival, development, or dignity in the context of a relationship of responsibility, trust, or power. 🔎 New publication! Excited to share our latest research published in the Child Abuse & Neglect Journal with Clifton Emery, Carrie K. W. Li, Antoine Deliege, PhD, and Chadi Rabhi. Our study explores the link between parents' childhood experiences of physical abuse and their use of severe physical discipline on their children. The study highlights the importance of awareness of laws against child abuse to break the cycle of violence. We also highlight the drawbacks of solely relying on punishment and emphasize the value of informal social control in preventing severe cases of abuse. Special thanks to UNICEF Tunisie for making this research possible. Check out the article link below to learn more!
📢 New Research Highlights the Importance of Laws to Protect Children! Our latest study with Inès Huynh, Clifton Emery, @Carrie K.W.Li and Chadi Rabhi recently published in Child Abuse & Neglect Journal explores the link between parents' childhood experiences of physical abuse and their likelihood of using severe physical discipline on their own children. Importantly, we found that awareness of laws against child abuse can reduce the risk of intergenerational transmission of violence. Key findings: ✅ Parents who know about laws against child abuse are less likely to use very severe physical punishment. ✅ Awareness and education about these laws are powerful tools to prevent abuse. ❌ The fear of punishment alone doesn’t appear to deter abuse. These results highlight the critical role of legislation and the power of awareness and education in preventing child maltreatment. Countries should enact laws against child abuse in all settings to help break the cycle of violence. #ChildProtection #EndViolence #Parenting #ChildRights https://lnkd.in/dpnks6ru

The findings of this study are deeply concerning and highlight critical gaps in our current approach to supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The lack of adequate funding, relevant training and up-to-date guidance from government agencies creates vulnerabilities that put these children at significant risk of exploitation. 1. **Funding Deficiencies**: Insufficient funding often means that schools and care providers are unable to implement essential safety measures and support services. Adequate funding is vital to ensure that SEND children receive the protective measures and support they need to thrive in a safe environment. 2. **Training Gaps**: Without comprehensive and current training for educators and caregivers there is a heightened risk that staff may not recognise or appropriately address signs of exploitation or abuse. Training should encompass safeguarding, recognising the unique risks faced by SEND children and effective intervention strategies. 3. **Policy and Guidance Updates**: Outdated or insufficient guidance from government bodies can leave gaps in safeguarding practices and policies. Regular updates to policy and guidance are necessary to reflect the evolving understanding of risks and best practices in safeguarding SEND children. Addressing these issues requires a concerted effort from policymakers, educators and community leaders. Immediate actions should include increasing funding for SEND services, implementing rigorous training programmes for all relevant personnel and ensuring that safeguarding policies are regularly reviewed and updated. By closing these gaps we can better protect SEND children from exploitation and ensure they receive the support and care they deserve. #MyTraumaIsChronicButIAmIconic #MTICBIAI #SENDSupport #SafeguardingChildren #SpecialEducationNeeds #ProtectingSEND #FundingForSEND #TrainingForSafeguarding #SENDAwareness #ChildProtection #UpdatePolicies #SafeguardingSEND #InclusionMatters #EducatorTraining #PolicyChange #SENDFunding #PreventExploitation

Dear Government and our Citizens, am writing to bring attention to a pressing issue that affects our society ,Child abuse, which both males and females perpetrate. We must acknowledge this reality to address and prevent such acts effectively. This seems like a trend , because each and every day you get news that there is a case of child abuse, this is very sad that our society has turned this barbaric behavior as a norm ..Our children are going through so much in the hands of adults who supposed to protect them as children but when they see them they see prey instead 😭 😭. I urge the government to take several essential actions. This includes implementing comprehensive education programs for children and parents, increasing funding for support services, and enhancing training for professionals in various fields. Public awareness campaigns can help challenge stereotypes and promote vigilance, while accessible reporting mechanisms ensure that victims and bystanders can report abuse confidentially. Strengthening legal protections will also play a crucial role in safeguarding children and holding abusers accountable, regardless of their gender. Together, these measures can create a safer environment for all children By taking decisive action, we can create a safer environment for our children and ensure that every victim receives the support they need to heal and thrive. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.

Some interesting findings from this report indicating the impact of Sure Start programmes: ‘Access to a nearby Sure Start centre between ages 0 and 4 significantly reduced youth crime that resulted in convictions or custodial sentences. Living within 2.5 kilometres of a Sure Start centre reduced the share of 16-year-olds who had ever received a criminal conviction by 13%. Meanwhile, custodial sentences – the most severe sanction – fell by a fifth due to access to Sure Start. Reductions in youth offending were concentrated on convictions for theft, the most common category of offence (20% reduction), and for drug offences (20% reduction)’. Original report can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/dVSZ33VX.
Support for children under the age of five through the Sure Start programme “significantly reduced” the chances of entering the youth custody estate when they reached adolescence, a report has found.

🚨 Child Protection Stops When Child Contact Starts. 🚨 Too often, child contact proceedings in Scotland overlook the risks posed to mothers and children who have separated themselves from their abuser. Decisions are being made in courts and Children’s Hearings that put women and children in harm’s way. Why? ⚖️ There’s a gap between criminal and civil courts, leaving domestic abuse survivors vulnerable. 📝 Social work and police reports often fail to accurately reflect the trauma and risks that abuse brings, overlooking what should be crucial protections. 🌍There’s a bias towards granting child contact to both parents, even when it goes against research and human rights standards under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. This system is dangerous for survivors of domestic abuse, forcing them into ongoing trauma instead of ensuring safety and support. Scotland must do better. It’s time to reform the approach to child contact to prioritise the safety and rights of women and children. #StillNotSafe #16Days #ChildSafetyFirst #DomesticAbuseReform What do you think? 💜

Gov. Wes Moore I have thoughts about this law 🤔 As a father yourself, I ask: what is the rationale of charging children for crimes that they do not fully understand? Why do you want to flood our fundamentally flawed criminal justice system with children?? How does this prevent crime?? Here’s what prevents crime, especially amongst children. - adequate access to basic necessities - worthwhile education and fulfilling social experiences -caring supportive and organized community Here’s what the bill SHOULD promote: -education for children on gun safety and laws -support for healthy relationships amongst youth, prevention against adverse childhood experiences and childhood sexual assault -increases access to community support and resources. CRIMINALIZIATION DOES NOTHING BUT PERPETUATE CYCLES OF SYSTEMIC OPPRESSION. #Maryland children deserve to be uplifted instead of criminalized. Do better!! #children #youth #maryland #development #community
