We had an amazing time at the Sydney Good Food and Wine Show last weekend! With over 30,000 visitors in attendance, we were thrilled to share our yogurt and cheese with so many customers. Our Bush Honey Organic Yoghurt and Passionfruit Organic Yoghurt were especially popular, and our Labna cheese, with its creamy tanginess, was a delightful surprise for many new fans. It was truly fulfilling to share our farm-to-table stories and our commitment to organic farming. The Good Food and Wine Show events in both Melbourne and Sydney have brought us closer to our customers, and we're excited to continue this journey of sharing and connecting!

Co-designing a solution to scale and mealybug 🌿 🍇 Wine Australia is spearheading an innovative initiative, collaborating with industry stakeholders to develop research and innovation strategies aimed at combating the detrimental scale and mealybug pests in vineyards using co-design principles. These pests pose a significant economic threat, costing Australian winegrape growers an estimated $5–20 million annually by feeding on grapevines and potentially facilitating the spread of diseases. 🌿 Utilizing a co-design approach, the initiative aims to guide investment towards sustainable management practices for these pests. This collaborative effort kicked off with two workshops, bringing together a diverse group of participants, including vineyard owners, viticulturists, consultants, researchers, and sector bodies like Wine Australia and Vinehealth Australia, to share knowledge and brainstorm innovative solutions. 🔍 The workshops identified seven key priorities, with a particular focus on understanding the biology and lifecycle of scale and exploring control options that consider the risk of wine residue from late-season chemical use. Other priorities include investigating the pests' role in virus transmission and biocontrol methods. 💡 Anna Hooper, Manager of Industry Policy at Australian Grape & Wine, expressed enthusiasm for the co-design process. She highlighted the challenges in addressing scale and mealybug issues due to knowledge gaps but remained optimistic about the collaborative approach leading to effective strategies and solutions. 🌀 Co-design, as explained by Dr Liz Waters of Wine Australia, is a participatory process that emphasizes collaboration between those affected by an issue and those working to solve it. This approach goes beyond mere consultation, seeking to build equal partnerships and iteratively refine solutions as new information emerges. #WineAustralia #SustainableViticulture #PestManagement #CoDesignInnovation

2nd day of MBSOIL consoritum meeting - interesting field trips, indicating differences in irrigated vs rainfed and notill versus trad farming systems near Albacete, Castilla La Mancha region.
🔅On the second day, we continued with insightful presentations and concluded with an enriching field trip. 🚜🌾👨🌾 We visited the farms of Casa Nueva, where no-till rainfed annual crops are cultivated, Casa Jara, known for its no-till irrigated annual crops and La Losa, showcasing no-till cover crops in rainfed almonds. ᨒ↟ 𖠰 🍇The day ended with a delightful dinner at Bodega Las Calzadas, a family-run winery. We had the opportunity to learn about the history of winemaking from the family themselves, making it a memorable experience.

This weekend, I had the chance to attend a wine contest in a small village in Tuscany featuring local and artisanal “vino contadino” – wine made for personal enjoyment only. It was a unique event that even attracted professional wine growers, sommeliers, and renowned critics. During the closing dinner, I had insightful conversations with wine producers and academic experts about New Genomic Techniques (#NGTs). The producers themselves raised the topic, highlighting #NGTs as a valuable tool to reduce crop protection products in vineyards, potentially cutting treatments from 11-12 times a year to just 2 or 3. However, these passionate individuals expressed their frustration with the lack of an enabling legislation for the use of #NGTs. They are committed to their craft and the environment, and their concerns about coping with the pressures of climate change are valid. As we look to the future, it’s crucial to support these hardworking producers. Why are they not allowed to access #NGTs to enhance sustainability and productivity? How are they going to deal with increased pressure from climate change? What are we waiting for? #Sustainability #Wine #Agriculture #Innovation #ClimateChange #NGTs Photo by Andrea Moretti

Vineyards don't look like much this time of year. Gone are the lush canopy of leaves and succulent clusters of grapes we imagine when thinking of verdant vines. But looks can be deceiving. Though not much is happening above ground, below ground is a different story. With 80% of its branches pruned back, the vine can devote its energy toward storing up nutrients to support future growth. Grapes are produced on new shoots, not old branches. Much like how vineyards meticulously prune their grapevines each season to promote new growth and a bountiful harvest, I work with business owners to routinely evaluate their operations. We cut away inefficient processes, remove redundancies and workflow bottlenecks, and create space for new initiatives to take root. Bloated procedures, outdated tools, and misaligned roles can quickly drain resources and stifle productivity — just as unruly vines yield a suboptimal crop. As a business advisor, I take a hard look at what's working and what needs trimming to support operational excellence. I work with clients to reallocate time and capital to the highest-impact areas, setting the stage for increased profitability and growth. And it's not one-time thing. Sustainable success requires intentional design throughout the year. That's why the work we do at Everyday Effectiveness includes week-to-week accountability in addition to quarterly evaluation and planning. If your business operations are due for some pruning, it might be time to enlist an advisor to help cultivate an ideal environment for growth. We'll be enrolling new clients in a few weeks. If you'd like to be added to the waitlist, now is the perfect time to connect. Message me or Tonya Kubo -- and we'll get you the details you need.
