This week, I had the privilege of moderating the inaugural Blacks at Microsoft, Health & Life Sciences group (BAM-HLS) MedTalk; Empowering Women's Health: Bridging Technology and Equity. The session focused on critical issues in Women's Health and the role of technology in bridging healthcare gaps. Our distinguished panelists, Dr. Ashlee Jamieson, Dr. Dakisha Lewis, MD, FACOG, and Dr. Nichole Butler-Mooyoung, FACOG, shared invaluable insights from the frontlines of women's healthcare.
Key Takeaways:
Access and Equity: Dr. Jamieson highlighted the importance of providing equitable healthcare access, especially for Black women, and leveraging AI to bridge gaps in care.
Patient Advocacy: Dr. Lewis emphasized the need for patient education and advocacy, ensuring that women can demand quality care and understand their health conditions.
Technology's Role: Dr. Butler discussed how technology can empower patients by providing accessible information and fostering better communication between doctors and patients.
This session underscored the ongoing work needed to ensure all women receive deserving care. I am grateful to our panelists for their dedication to the communities they serve and to BAM-HLS for organizing this impactful event. Let's continue to push for change and leverage technology to create a more equitable healthcare system for all women💪🏽💜.
