Today, 95 years ago, Greece played its very first international match against Italy B (1-4). The match was held in the Stadium of Panathinaikos (today known as Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium) in front of 15.000 spectators. The sole goal for Greece, and also the very first goal scored for the national team, was the initial 1-1 and scored by Alvertos Namias. My Personal Attitude on the Participation of Styopa Mkrtchyan in the Upcoming Match between FC Zire and NK Osijek As a dedicated fan and football professional, I wish to address the recent discussions surrounding the potential participation of Styopa Mkrtchyan, an Armenian-born player of NK Osijek, in the upcoming match against FC Zire in Baku. I firmly believe that there is no problem here, and we should avoid politicizing this sporting event. This can be exemplified by two significant events: We can see that Azerbaijan does not discriminate in relation to sports, unlike many others, with the following one exact example: 1. During the first European Games in 2015, President Ilham Aliyev personally presented the silver medal to Armenian boxer Gevorg Manukyan, showcasing a spirit of sportsmanship and respect. In recent months, we have witnessed positive steps towards normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This can be exemplified by two significant events: 1. Negotiations, delimitation, and demarcation for peace talks and treaty signing between the countries continue, albeit at a slow pace at times. 2. Azerbaijan extended an invitation to Armenia, including a personal invitation to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, to participate in COP29, demonstrating a willingness to engage in dialogue and cooperation on an international platform. Sports should remain a domain where talent, dedication, and the love of the game take precedence over political differences. Creating unnecessary intrigue only detracts from the spirit of competition and unity that football brings to fans and players alike. Let's focus on the exciting match ahead and wish both FC Zire and NK Osijek the best of luck. May it be a memorable game for all involved. Good luck to both teams! #UEFA #Azerbaijan #Armenia #Football #Soccer #UECL #FIFA

Imagine you have two events, A and B, occurring in a vast universe of possibilities. In this universe, the occurrence of A doesn't sway the likelihood of B happening and vice versa. This lack of influence defines the independence between these events. Thus, in the dance of probabilities, A and B move to their own rhythms, untouched by the steps of the other. This harmony is the essence of independent events, creating a symphony of certainty in the realm of chance.Consider the Semi-Finals of Euro 2024: if France wins the 1st Semifinal, it doesn’t mean the Netherlands will win the 2nd Semifinal, nor does Spain’s win in the 1st Semifinal imply England will win the 2nd Semifinal. Two semifinals are independent if the outcome of one doesn’t affect the outcome of the other.More precisely, if there are two candidates in an election, and if Q loses, then P must win, and if Q wins, then P is considered lost. This scenario is not an example of independent probability. In essence, true independence means each event unfolds its own story, unaffected by the tale of the other, weaving a tapestry of probability that is both intricate and beautifully unpredictable.

How do people come up with the idea of adding up all the medals won by the USA, China or the EU countries and deriving success from this? In sport in particular, all countries work independently and not according to American, Chinese or EU guidelines. If you see an EU team here, please don't forget that only 2 starters or 1 team are allowed to compete per competition, i.e. not 30 or 15 as in Paris. Apart from how the selection process within the EU is supposed to work, the medal haul would be significantly lower. In this respect, the medal table per capita is probably closer to the truth 🥇🥈🥉 https://lnkd.in/dgDFEGxr
