Not Vital at the bARTh art space Today marks the end of the exhibition featuring works by Swiss artist Not Vital in our bARTh art space. On display, for example, was a 3.5-meter-long, oversized rod made of polished stainless steel. The work, titled "Walking Stick," is more than just an enlarged depiction of a walking stick – it is a symbol of travel, discovery, and the nomadic lifestyle. A special focus for the artist is a project featuring the sculptures “Cow Dung.” These are life-sized cow patties cast in bronze, a project Not Vital began in 1989 after a trip to Nepal. Since then, part of the proceeds has been donated to children in Nepal. Not Vital (b. 1948 in Sent) is a Swiss artist who has traveled and exhibited widely since the 1970s, living between the United States, Niger, Italy, Brazil and China. His art is inspired by his nomadic lifestyle and experiences of travelling the globe, reflecting on habitations, nature and animals, and on the relationships between sculpture and architecture. He explores abstract and figurative forms with materials like steel, marble, and ceramic. Collaborating with global craftsmen, his works are striking in scale and presence. Thank you to everyone who attended the exhibition. A special thanks to curator Christian Schwienbacher and the fundaziun notvital for the collaboration.
