Excellent day spent meeting with supply chain vendors at the S&OP Demo Day in Amsterdam, organised by Supply Chain Media BV. Hugely valuable insights into the capabilities of some of the fantastic smaller (but no less innovative) vendors in this space. Common themes emerge: - connecting business value to capabilities is essential for buyers yet vendors tend not to do it well - buyers need to understand the differentiation between vendors but vendors often miss the mark. Result = vendors all look and feel similar. - vendors still a lean towards demonstrating features and functions rather than business outcomes. In my experience this is true of the larger vendors too. Selecting enterprise software partner is a critical business decision. Both parties need to get it right - together, or it can end failing to meet expectations or worse, result in a messy and expensive divorce.
