🚀 Exciting news from Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD)! KEZAD Group has partnered with Azizi Developments to establish 12 state-of-the-art factories, backed by an AED1 billion investment. These facilities will produce critical construction materials, including reinforcement steel, timber joinery, modular components, and aluminium products, all designed to meet the growing demands of the housing industry. 🏗️ Spanning 220,000 square meters, this project aligns with KEZAD's commitment to sustainability, employing advanced, energy-efficient manufacturing methods. 🌱 Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of AD Ports Group, emphasized that this initiative supports a diverse ecosystem of manufacturers and promotes sustainable industrial practices. Mirwais Azizi, founder of Azizi Developments, highlighted the importance of this strategic location for producing high-quality materials. Sri Lanka, Thailand give the biggest boost to expand bilateral ties Part 2 Representing Sri Lanka, GJRTI Director General (Actg) B.G.R.W. Gamlath, and representing Thailand its GIT Director Sumed Prasongpongchai, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the two countries. PMD said the gem and jewellery industry, deeply rooted in Sri Lanka’s history, has flourished due to its production of high-quality gems, positioning the country uniquely in the global market. Thailand, currently holding a distinctive position in the international Gem and Jewellery industry, recognises the importance of collaboration. With the shared goal of developing and promoting the industry in both nations, the MOU focuses on information exchange, scientific and technical research, and training activities. The agreement stems from the 2018 strategic economic cooperation MOU between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Thailand. GJRTI and GIT will collaborate on gem deposit and exploration research, value addition to gemstones, and jewellery manufacturing. The exchange of gem-related rock samples and minerals between the two institutes will be facilitated under the laws and regulations of both countries. GIT will offer training courses in gemmology, jewellery designing and manufacturing, contributing to the skill development in Sri Lanka. Infrastructure Malta's current plans for Msida will: ✅ Increase traffic in the long term (due to induced demand) ✅ Increase noise ✅ Increase pollution and respiratory ilnesses ✅ Further fragment Msida and make it more difficult to navigate by foot and by bike ✅ Make Msida a more unpleasant place to live While many other cities have realised that building flyovers and wider roads to accomodate traffic does not work and are now demolishing such grandiose projects, IM continues to follow this outdated strategy. We need real and contemporary solutions to traffic, not "solutions" from the 1950s! The KTP proposal (video below) is better placed to accomodate alternative mobility options, while giving a much-needed public space back to the community. If executed properly, such a proposal would both reduce traffic and contribute to reducing car dependency in the long term. And (as a bonus!), it will contribute to flood management in an area prone to flooding. After all, trees and green areas are a much better flood management solution than complex drainage systems can ever be 🌼
