Welcome to PATIENTS & SYMPTOMS, a weekly spot for sharing a couple of clinical terms describing patients’ complaints, based on my own experience and on the content I translate. 🔎SEBACEOUS CYST – What’s that? Sebaceous cysts are small lumps that arise within the skin on the face, neck, upper back and upper chest. A sebaceous cyst can form when the opening to a sebaceous gland becomes blocked. The oily substance called sebum continues to be produced but cannot escape to the outer skin surface. A sebaceous cyst is considered atypical if it has a diameter that’s larger than 5 centimeters or signs of infection, such as redness, pain, or pus drainage. ✅Found it helpful? Help me raise awareness by reacting, leaving a comment, or sharing with your network. 🌐🌐🌐🌐 For translation into Portuguese & Portuguese language and culture-related content: ✔️follow my hashtag 🔥#PortugueseForYou🔥 ✔️ring the bell🔔below my banner ✔️connect with me. #medicaltranslation #health #diseases #patients #litranslators 📌📌📌 Tip about the topic – Most sebaceous cysts are harmless and rarely need treatment. Sebaceous cysts may go away on their own, but they often come back.

On November 28, at a High-Level Technical Summit, the International Diabetes Federation Europe (IDF Europe) and WHO Regional Office for Europe signed a Declaration, recalling the urgent need for accelerating action on commitments to improve diabetes detection and quality of care. Since then, IDF Europe has been encouraging individuals and organisations to endorse the Declaration to show policymakers that more needs to be done to improve the lives of PwD and those at risk. The Declaration calls on governing bodies all around Europe to accelerate action to improve diabetes detection and quality of care. In practice, this might look different for each individual. Advancing quality care might require better access to diabetes education in one country or better access to technologies in another. Click below and read more about the campaign and share your reasons for signing the declaration! 👉 https://bit.ly/4aqsBWw

For World PH Day 2024, people with PH from around the world share the importance of a unified effort to transform the PH landscape and address challenges. Erin Baker, from Australia, was diagnosed with idiopathic PAH. Baker believes access to care is essential for people with PH. “Pulmonary hypertension is so intricate and requires specialized treatments that many people in Australia, and worldwide, don't have equal, ready and adequate access to. The fact that everyone with a PH diagnosis is different makes access even harder. The cohort of patients with PH in Australia is small compared to our other first world counterparts, and with a country so vast, there is a risk of people falling through the cracks due to distance, funding and experience, and interest from the appropriate medical professionals. I have been blessed to have access to some of the best PH specialists in the country and have been provided the gold standard therapy for my disease, and I believe I have survived for the 20 years of my diagnosis (and still going strong) because of this. I cannot fathom anyone not having access to the same care and treatment that I have received to enable them to live as well and full a life as possible.” Learn more about the five topics we are highlighting for World PH Day 2024 and how to get involved. https://ow.ly/MaMf50RyuIg
