Mmmmm....have you already figured it out, based on the smell in the air? It's National Pizza Party Day! Yep - let it be known that the third Friday in May is your invitation to pizza it up. Or not? Pizza parties remind me of one of three things: 1. When I did enough summer reading to earn the free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut (awesome) 2. When I worked at Ultrazone Laser Tag as a high schooler and served pizza at birthday parties (smelly) 3. When I've received pizza as a surprise lunch at work for reasons I don't understand (a bit suspicious? What's this pizza about?) So with all appreciation of pizza itself, when 2 out of 3 of my pizza experiences raise flags I think it's worth talking about. Pizza (or donuts, or bagels) alone doesn't build community, share appreciation, or even nourish. When we want to celebrate, let's make sure to add: • A specific reason we're celebrating • An opportunity for folks to co-create that celebration (what would be preferred and meaningful from them, related to food and beyond that) • Concrete, impact-based positive feedback What's the best way you've celebrated at work? #humanresources #mentalhealth #sustainability

The day before Thanksgiving or should I say "Thanksgiving Eve" tends to be quiet as many people take time off making a four day weekend even longer. And so it was some Whitfield County senior staff and I were able to enjoy an impromptu birthday luncheon. Our two Birthday Girls were County Clerk Blanca Cardona (tomorrow - Thanksgiving) and Zoning Director Jean Garland (Friday). Many heady questions were pondered and discussed such as: 1. What's the difference between corned beef and pastrami? 2. What's this new dining phenomenon known as "Girl Dinner"? 3. Will Girl Dinner ever replace Thanksgiving? Answers: 1. Corned beef is leaner, brined, and boiled. Pastrami is coated with peppercorns and smoked. 2. A meal of whatever snack items are in the kitchen. Some claim it is similar in concept to tapas or charcuterie. 3. Only for the lazy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

I love the story of the first Thanksgiving, where Pilgrims and Native Americans came together to celebrate a successful harvest over a shared meal. It’s a great example of how food connects us all. My most treasured memories are of my family gathering around a table, sharing stories, enjoying a meal, and each other’s company (for the most part). 😅 Sharing a meal is a wonderful way to foster deep connections with colleagues, friends, and family. The aromas of spiced pumpkin lattes, freshly baked apple cobbler, and roasted turkey enclosed in a buttery, flakey croissant evoke nostalgia. A recent study by McKinsey found that the average life-span of companies listed in Standard & Poor's 500 was 61 years in 1958. Today Property Masters Inc celebrated our 20th year in business (6/14/2004) with a little party @ our HQ!!! 🥳 The rest of the team was there in spirit! There have been many highs and lows, but over the years we have learned how to turn our disappointments into opportunities to improve, and those improvements into wins for our trusted partners & clients.
