Initially launched to offset disruptions from construction, the program successfully injected over $62,000 into the local economy--so they're running it back for the holidays. I have two suggestions to optimize the program: 𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Encourage merchants to offer special incentives for customers who redeem their $20 bonus gift cards. This strategy draws people back to the downtown area and presents a prime opportunity to make a lasting impression on new customers. In other words...Don’t let the cards—or the chance to build customer loyalty—go to waste. 𝟮. 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀: Monitor customer spending via the $20 bonus gift cards. The overspend (or lift) will show the direct financial benefits of the program. They made $62,000 by incentivizing purchases to earn gift cards. I'd want to know how much additional revenue is injected back into the businesses via redemption.
