Lets just code this cost as valuable LIFE EXPERIENCE. I attended my first ever university lecture at the age of 16, enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Science. Aced the first semester and transferred to the Physiotherapy Programme. Failed the anatomy paper that semester and had to wait until the next year to sit that paper again. Up until that point I had never experienced any form of FAILURE. It hurt. I returned the following year after working and.. FAILED AGAIN at the age of 17. I decided not to complete that degree, completely changed my trajectory and now run 3 businesses. I don't regret it. But I learnt how to pick myself up and not let any form of failure prevent me from moving forward. #entrepreneurstories #careerchange #personalselfgrowth #studentlife

Sunday Serenity: Why I can't just let go of my past as a sports rehab practitioner, even though I'm now in a completely different industry? Because it would waste my effort & talent, and it's time for me to give back to society. It's not just about money for me. I see how Malaysians prioritize healthcare as secondary, and that needs to change. Putting your health first will lead to financial success. #prevention better than #cure. It also depends on how willing people are to contribute to society. Providing scientifically proven experiences is crucial to combat misinformation, even if it means paid classes or courses. I'm here to offer a second opinion and share my clinical rehab experience. I've helped people improve their lives and get back to the gym. Continuously expanding my skills in anatomy and physiology helps me communicate better with doctors, physiotherapists, and trainers. My advice to my LinkedIn connections: Don't let go of skills you've nurtured. Find a way to contribute to society with them. Giving back without expecting anything in return leads to great success. p/s: Back in the day, I had to remember every single muscle, along with its origin and insertion, to understand how biomechanics works wonders. #GivingBack #Basic #SportsScience #ExerciseRehabilitation #SportsMedicine #AnatomyPhysiology

"The only impossible journey is the one you never begin." –Tony Robbins As I coach physicians, a common question arises: “What’s next?” Many reach a stage in their careers where they begin to question their journey and life's trajectory. It's normal to feel stuck and unsure about the future. Does this sound like you? If so, you’re not alone. Many doctors are filled with doubt about their decisions and their career path. The monotony of everyday life can make it seem like we’re working without a specific goal or destination. But here's a thought: These challenges can become incredible opportunities for growth and self-discovery. That’s why I developed a comprehensive guide: The 5 Essential Steps Every Physician Needs To Figure Out "What's Next?" It's time to stop feeling: 🛑 Stuck 🛑 Frustrated 🛑 Overwhelmed 🛑 Unsure about how to move forward And start taking steps toward: ☑️ Identifying your unique "What's Next?" ☑️ Setting clear, achievable goals ☑️ Making consistent progress ☑️ Gaining control and balance ☑️ Living the life you genuinely want Many physicians believe that leaving medicine is the only solution to their dissatisfaction. This guide will help you see that sometimes, just one small change can lead to the life you genuinely want. You don’t have to leave your career to find fulfillment. #WhatsNext #Goals #DesignYourLife #Dreams #PhysicianLife #PhysicianJourney #PhysicianEmpowerment #PhysicianCare #ShowUpForYourself #PhysicianWellness #PhysicianRevolution #PhysicianWellBeing #MedicalMindsetShift

Should you switch to chiro? 🤔 Traditional medicine isn’t always what students envision, and exploring alternative paths is more common than you might think. As a medical student, you may already have a strong foundation in science and a passion for helping people. But maybe you crave a more hands-on approach, one that emphasizes natural healing and preventative care. Chiropractic care offers exactly that, and there is a growing demand for healthcare professionals who don’t have a pill-first mentality. 💊❌ 🔗 See what else a career in chiro can offer: https://loom.ly/UKQydiA #Chiropractic #FutureDoctor #LifeWest

Clinical confidence is so key in our profession. I remember feeling like I knew NOTHING. I still feel like that a lot of the time. I think all good clinicians do sometimes! The detail required to properly rehab someone or know what was going on or what they needed was so hard and so much more than I had to offer when I graduated. The fear new grads have, without the structured support offered in some other professions (such as doctors) lends itself to hero worship and cult like following of the loudest voices on social media or other access points. They want a recipe to cling to but in reality it’s not there, no matter what course someone tells you to buy! It dilutes the quality and value we can add. Knowing your basics, drilling down your anatomy, your physiology, brush up on your biomechanics…. IMPROVE YOUR STATS ABILITIES AND CRITICAL READING/THINKING! Be a better scientist and you can solve most puzzles or at least know where to look/who to ask. I have a ‘physiology for dummies’ book that I go over when I get chance. Zero shame. Andy is a great clinician and fab human. He is a great soul to learn from and support you in feeling more capable after you pass your ‘driving test’… Having support/mentoring to develop you to stand on your own two feet in a space of ‘conscious competence’ is so valuable. But the terrifying stage of ‘conscious incomepetence’ hits you hard after undergrad. Reach out for help ☺️ I’m not the finished article by any means, so new grads sure as hell aren’t either. Put yourself in varied, uncomfortable spaces and gather your council of owls. I’ve got mine and I add to them all the time by building relationships. These are the people who will never hesitate to put me right or tell me I’m being a d**k head. Sometimes we all need it. #Mentoring #Support #ClinicalReasoning #Basics
“I feel my biggest challenge right now is lack of confidence in what I know.” These are the exact words a new grad physio sent to me last week… Whilst applying to join my new grad physio programme. Sound like you? I get messages like this, every day, from physio’s just like you, lacking confidence. Doubting your knowledge… Unsure if you assessing your patient's the right way… Lacking confidence in yourself to select the correct hands-on and rehab exercises. When you feel like this it is not great. So you go away and try to learn. You watch anatomy, special test or treatment videos on Youtube… Or look on Instagram and TikTok for new rehab ideas from those so called internet 'guru's.' But it doesn’t sink in, right? No sooner have you watched the content, it’s gone… In one ear and out the other. The next day you go to use what you have seen in clinic (if you can even remember what you watched)… But it doesn’t work. So you question yourself more. You beat yourself up… And your confidence takes even more of a battering. The fastest way to improve your confidence is to get great patient results. Great results equals happy patients equal happy physio. Simple as that! All this week I am going to give you some help to show you how to get better, more consistent patient reuslts…. To improve your clinical confidence… With every patient you see, regardless of their injury… In the fastest time possible. To help me to help you… Send me a DM and let me know your 'BIGGEST CHALLENGE' right now and I’ll reply right back to you with some help. Have a great day, Andy Barker The New Grad Physio Mentor PS. The only real way you will start to feel more confident in yourself… And feel less overwhelmed is when you start seeing results. The more you keep struggling, unable to help your patients in the way you would like, the more you feel overwhelmed… And the less confident you will be to take on that next patient that walks through your clinic door. As a physio you have to do 3 things with each patient you see… Assess - to find out what problems they have Treat - use hands-on techniques to reduce patient’s pain and improve function Rehab - design and implement a rehab plan that will help your patient get from A to B, from injury and back to full health. Being able to do these 3 things well is all you need to do to start getting consistent positive patient results. So the question is… If you are feeling overwhelmed and lacking confidence in your own ability as a new grad physio, what is it that is causing the biggest problem for you? Like a patient that has more than one issue that needs fixing, you need to identity the biggest problem to start with, then work on that issue first. Your own development as a physio is no different. Do you struggle most with your subjective or objective assessments? Do you struggle knowing what hands-on treatment techniques to use or… Find it hard designing and implementing a rehab plan for your patient’s? Let me know what it is you are struggling with and I’ll send over some help. Just send me a DM with the word ‘ASSESS’ ‘TREAT’ or ‘REHAB’ with your biggest challenge right now and I’ll get right back to you!
