At Worthington Enterprises, we are committed to leaving the world better than we found it by meeting the needs of today without compromising tomorrow. One approach is landfill waste deviation tactics. In FY24, various initiatives helped us to divert 85% of our total waste. For example, our, Columbus, Jefferson and Westerville plants in Ohio and Paducah, Kentucky, location partnered with a new vendor to recycle waste materials including weld dust, powder paint and steel shot dust. This resulted in a waste-to-landfill reduction of 25,000 pounds and is expected to double in FY25. Scrap rubber reduction at our West Warwick facility reduces landfill waste by more than 145,000 pounds. Our goal is to achieve zero waste for our global manufacturing and distribution sites by 2040. For those who don't know, we have partnered with Wastecare Group, a unique recycling and waste management company that specialises in the disposal, recycling and recovery of industrial waste products. This enables the high quality 210 litre steel drums used by Fenzi to be reconditioned and re-used, rather than simply melted down for recycling. WasteCare have agreed to buy the post-use steel drums that we go through every month and recondition them for re-sale. Once reconditioned, the steel drums are suitable for a number of potential uses, and to date we have been able to divert 1,417 steel drums away from recycling into re-use. https://bit.ly/3bYHuHk

🔥We have one fire a day at work, putting front line workers at risk of serious injury or death, because people aren't recycling their vapes, batteries, gas cannisters and other electric items ♻️ check out the article below 👇🏽
The unsafe disposal of electrical items causes a preventable fire every day across our vehicles and facilities, showing the serious impact of improper waste disposal. Items such as batteries and vapes can be dangerous when disposed of in general waste, as they are extremely flammable when crushed. This has led to an average of one preventable fire every day across our network, endangering our people and causing damage to vital recycling infrastructure.
