Despite what we've been told, many employers don’t rank school attendance and degree earned as the most important requirement when hiring. In actuality, employers are far more interested in your skills and experience, even as a recent college graduate. Entry-level positions are increasingly looking to hire those with experience which can be difficult for most recent grads. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about what you can do to gain experience and become the ideal candidate when applying for positions, check out my FREE webinar: Beyond Graduation: Navigating Post-College Career Success on May 21st, 2024 by clicking the link below! https://lnkd.in/e3NsktjM #BeFulfilled #Careers #collegestudents #recentgrads #recentgraduate #jobsearch #jobsaftercollege #careercoaching #studentcareercoaching #iamlateiabrown

Why wait for students to come to the career center when you can bring the career center to them? College is a busy time for students. There are so many things to keep track of, and paying a visit to the career center may not be a top priority or easily accessible to everyone. Look at it this way - if you had to choose between a spontaneous lunch on the front lawn of campus with friends, or a spontaneous trip to the career center … we can predict which choice would be made. Career support should be fun, and it should be readily available to help you navigate your career journey at any stage of your life. Just as necessary as gen-ed classes are, career guidance sessions should be part of a college student’s schedule. Let’s make career services a core part of the student experience, from the first-year orientation to post-graduation support.

I am puzzled as to why individuals with Bachelor's and Master's degrees find it so challenging to secure employment. Wasn't the purpose of pursuing higher education to obtain better job opportunities or a fulfilling career, rather than just hanging the degree on the wall? It seems that to gain experience in a new field, individuals must apply and hope for a chance, but it appears that the only way to be considered is if one has 12 to 20+ years of experience. How does this requirement make sense? Please, help me understand this hiring process.
