We are pleased to announce the latest United States Bicycle Route (USBR) designation in NWI! USBR 37 is a route that connects the Erie Lackawanna Trail in Griffth to the Monon Trail in Carmel. Traversing 186.9 miles, the route primarily consists of existing city streets and country roads with some sections on multi-use paths. The NIRPC region now claims three USBR routes including USBR 36 from Chicago to Michigan, and USBR 35 through central La Porte County. As the European parliament prepares for a new five-year policy cycle, all eyes will be on how EU Member States implement the European Declaration on Cycling. Signed earlier this year, the European Declaration on Cycling is one of the most ambitious EU-level policy initiatives, setting out 36 commitments to recognise cycling as a strategic priority across Europe. Cycling Industries Europe and Luna Systems outline why data collection is now crucial to executing the Declaration. “If we can get granular data on cycling, then we can inform policy and make the case that cycling needs European support and investment if its full potential is to be realised,” Cycling Industries Europe Project Manager Samuel Pierce tells Zag Daily.
