We all throw our old soft furnishings, but what happens once they've been collected? Why don't you join us on the journey? Persistent organic pollutants, more commonly known as pops, may be found in sofas, cushions and other soft furnishings, particularly if they were manufactured in the UK before 2011. The best practice if you have any kind of upholstered waste must be assumed that it does contain pops. Pops are organic substances that persist in the environment and accumulate in living organisms. They may also cause long term adverse effects on our health. POPS regulations have been in place since 2007 and the Environment Agency measures compliance against these. Both Park took the initiative to repurpose a dedicated pops processing facility within its UK network here in Leeds. Material from within our network, including Lincolnshire, Witness, Peterborough, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and other LEADS facilities were brought here for processing and disposal. Pops Wise must be kept separate from other waste streams, and once delivered here, it's processed and prepared to be sent for incineration.
