There's a thought-provoking conversation going on about the intersection of history, culture, and social media in this article. It encourages us to consider how these elements shape our engagement online. One point that really stood out is the role of museums in educating and inspiring future generations. But here's the catch: are museums becoming too reliant on social media to reach audiences? Are we possibly diluting the true essence of cultural experience? 🤔 I'd love to hear what you think! Let's discuss how we can balance tradition with modern techniques in a respectful way. #CulturalEngagement #SocialMedia #MuseumsMatters #BusinessTrends #EntrepreneurialSpirit https://lnkd.in/gERU7gaG

In a recent comedy bit, Taylor Tomlinson suggested starting museum visits in the gift shop, saying: "I don't want to look like an idiot standing in front of an unimportant piece of art for too long... What made the magnets? What made the postcards? What can I take home with me?" Despite the humorous take, it highlights a critical issue in the museum world. Are we too focused on the masterpieces, missing out on the emotional and educational value of the entire collection? 🎨🏛️ Museums should be spaces of exploration and connection, where every piece can evoke personal responses and inspire us. The obsession with only the famous works can overshadow this. As someone passionate about cultural heritage, I believe we need to shift this perspective. It's important to celebrate all the pieces, famous or not, and encourage visitors to discover the stories and emotions behind them. 🌟 By fostering a more inclusive appreciation, museums can improve our cultural experiences. Let’s make every visit about discovery and connection, not just ticking off the masterpieces. 🌍✨ #MuseumExperience #CulturalHeritage #ArtAppreciation #MuseumVisit

Talking with a friend and we were discussing how we've both visited virtually all of the museums, theme parks, historical buildings, etc within say 2 hours of where we live. I realised I visited the same in Glasgow before leaving and a very high proportion of what there is to see and do in London. But most people haven't or don't. Maybe because they'll always be there. Or maybe because they don't know about them. While overseasinfo.tv is there to make people aware of what there is to see and do when they go on holiday, it's just as relevant for attracting local visitors. People who at the weekend ask themselves "what shall we do today"? The more we build and populate overseasinfo.tv together the more benefit we're all likely to get. New places. New attractions. New experiences. And with videos, local people as well as those from overseas can see, feel and understand if it's for them. There's a huge audience out there waiting and wanting to discover new things. #experiences #attractions #museums #historicalbuildings #themeparks #overseastourists #localvisitors

#NewArticle Museographic narrating of dissonant heritage in Tianjin’s former international concessions Maria Gravari-Barbas, Sandra Guinand, Yue Lu & Chensi Shen Concessions—defined as the urban elements built by Western powers while ‘occupying’ various parts of the Chinese territory—have recently been granted heritage status by the Chinese national and local authorities. However, in many respects, they are ‘dissonant’ heritage sites since they are the result of the several-decade-long ‘colonial’ presence in Tianjin of nine foreign powers. The aim of this study is to understand how former international concessions are featured in museums and interpretation centres in present-day Tianjin. https://lnkd.in/e6mdmK5M
