We had a mix of activities lined up - starting with a workshop, followed by thoughtful conversations about our vision and direction. The day wrapped up with an exciting scavenger hunt and a team tour around Copenhagen harbor. You become what you surround yourself with. The fact is, Bellow Media would be nothing without the incredible people who consistently choose to put Bellow and our clients first. It’s easy to assert authority and make every decision unilaterally, but that’s not always the right path. The first few months of 2024 have been incredibly tough for us. We lost clients, team members, money, and even equipment. These setbacks have shown us that anything can happen, no matter how hard we work. 💪 This realisation made it clear that we needed to change how we operate. Now, everything is completely transparent—sales, profits, losses, and the company's overall situation. Everyone has a voice and an opportunity to succeed, fostered through love and respect. ❤️ This shift has drastically changed our team’s mindset. By removing hierarchy and seeing everyone as individuals, we’ve dropped the walls and embraced our true selves, bringing us closer together. 🤝 People often say your company is not your family, and that’s a fair statement. But treating it like a team naturally makes it feel like one. This is how I was raised by my family: being shown the hard truths, called out for my mistakes, and supported when I was down. This approach made problems less daunting and gave me the time to reflect and improve. This is how Bellow has evolved, and everyone at Bellow will be treated like family. My Family. 👪 I know this approach may not work for every company, but it has worked for us. Despite the setbacks, the unity and determination of everyone at Bellow show me that we will fight through this and emerge stronger. ✨ This week, I had the opportunity to attend the #ProductTank meet-up in Manchester, and I’m so grateful to be part of such a vibrant and thriving tech community! 🚀 The event was nothing short of inspiring. The speakers were phenomenal, sharing insights that really opened my eyes to new perspectives. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind, but events like these remind me of the value of stepping back and learning from others—whether they’re peers with similar experiences or seasoned professionals with a wealth of knowledge. Here are my key takeaways: 1️⃣ Authenticity in Interviews 🌟 Stavros Karydis emphasized the importance of being your authentic self in interviews. This resonated deeply with me. Sure, being "interview ready" is important, but trying to be someone you’re not? That’s counterproductive. As they said, “We’re not building rockets here!” 🚀 Be genuine—it’s your strongest asset. 2️⃣ Jade’s Improv Exercise 🌟This was my second time hearing Jade Hanley speak, her sessions always leave you with something to think about. She led us through an improv exercise where we had to convey different emotions. It was such a powerful reminder that communication is about more than just words—it’s about the emotions behind them. Humans are complex, and sometimes, we just need to embrace our humanity. 🤝 3️⃣ Team Dynamics and The Bear 🌟Dave Baines’s talk was a standout! He drew parallels between team dynamics and The Bear (yes, the cooking show!). 🐻 It was fascinating to see how the main character navigates feedback, iterates, and works with their team—just like the product lifecycle. Plus, I’ve now got a new show to binge! 📺 A huge thank you to Zühlke Group for hosting and for pizzas ! 🍕 Your hospitality was incredible. At Pickyourtrail, our managers take turns spotlighting crucial skills, from the art of negotiation to the intricacies of destination expertise. These sessions are more than just training for our folks; they're opportunities for growth and development individually too. But that's not all. Last week, to add a dash of friendly rivalry, we introduced an inter-team quiz! Each team sent their A-game: a seasoned travel consultant, a team leader, and a fresh talent. The competition was fierce, with rewards like doubled potential sales leads up for grabs! Being in London with inspiring speakers and engaging sessions has been a game-changer. ✨ Here’s what I’m taking away from this transformative experience: Embrace Curiosity: I discovered three new resources from our partner organizations that I’m excited to share with my team. Looking forward to discussing these at our next team meeting. 📚💡 Boost Collaboration: We’re integrating the Aperia platform to enhance our cultural collaboration for a new project. I’m eager to see how this pivot will impact our team dynamics and effectiveness. 🤝🌍 Develop Communication Skills: I’ve picked an abstract from a book to refine my communication. Additionally, I’ve committed to a weekly LinkedIn post to elevate my external presence and network. 📖📝 Step Out of Comfort Zones: The Growing at Haleon Week competition pushed me to share more openly and challenge myself. It’s amazing how stepping outside our comfort zones can lead to growth! 🚀💪 Self-Discovery and Reflection: I’m on a mission to identify my superpower with feedback from my colleagues by October's end. Also, I’ve started a new section in my daily journal to focus on mindset and productivity. 🔍🧠 Team Efficiency: I’ve initiated discussions with my team on how we can improve our pace and work more effectively together. 🏃♂️💼 Expanded Network: I had the pleasure of meeting four new colleagues, expanding my network and gaining fresh perspectives. 🌐🤗 Looking forward, I’m excited to continue developing myself and seeking opportunities to help others achieve their full potential. This week has clearly demonstrated that by taking ownership and making small, proactive changes, we can have a significant impact.
