Did you know that more than one-quarter of food produced is wasted globally each year? This has major social, environmental and economic consequences. It’s common for delegate numbers to fluctuate in the lead-up to an event and estimating food quantities can be tricky. At The CCD, we ensure that regular communication between clients and the hospitality manager about likely numbers can allow for adjustments in catering requirements. This helps to avoid producing unnecessary food and, in turn, reducing food waste. Other initiatives, such as donating food to local schools or charities are creative ways to manage waste after an event. Today, on Stop Food Waste Day, we want to highlight some tips and tricks you can easily implement in to your daily life to make small but significant changes in how we care for our food.

🥕 Good Karma? Grocery Stores That Donate Food Make More Money, Study Finds♻️ In a surprising twist, grocery stores find that donating expiring food isn't just a good deed—it's also good for business! By working with local nonprofits and food banks, stores are reducing food waste while reaping unexpected financial benefits. Stores like Tesco, Sainsbury's’s, and Co-op are partnering with local food banks and charities to reduce food waste, making a positive impact while reaping unexpected financial benefits. Key Insights: Reducing Food Waste: Grocery stores are partnering with food banks to donate items near their expiration dates, keeping them out of landfills and helping those in need. Tax Benefits: Donating food comes with valuable tax incentives that can outweigh the loss of revenue from unsold items. It's a win-win for businesses and communities! Lower Disposal Costs: Grocery stores save on waste management fees by reducing the amount of waste that needs to be disposed of. Boosting Community Ties: These efforts strengthen relationships between businesses and local communities, fostering goodwill and customer loyalty. 🌍 This approach perfectly exemplifies how businesses can balance profitability with positive social impact. 💬 How can other industries adopt similar win-win strategies? Share your thoughts in the comments! Let's continue the conversation on building a more sustainable future. 🌱

🌍 Announcing "Save Food" - A Food Waste Management App 🌍 I’m excited to share the concept of Save Food, an upcoming app that will revolutionize how we manage food waste. The idea is simple: if you have edible food left at home, in the office, or anywhere, you can enter your location into the app, and someone from a partnered organization will pick it up and deliver it to those in need. Save Food aims to create an easy and efficient way to reduce food waste and provide for those who need it most. We believe that no meal should go to waste when millions of people are struggling with hunger. 🍽️ How It Works: ✅ Enter your location when you have leftover food ✅ A partnered organization will pick up the food ✅ The food will be delivered to those in need ✅ Helping both the planet and the people in need We’re seeking partnerships with organizations (Brother's Brother Foundation ), donors, and volunteers to bring this vision to life. Together, we can create a network that turns surplus food into life-saving meals. If you’re interested in collaborating, donating, or simply learning more, feel free to reach out. Let’s work together to build a future where no food is wasted, and no one goes hungry. #SaveFood #FoodWasteManagement #EndHunger #Sustainability #HumanityFirst #TechForGood

The diginu Story: Revolutionizing Food Delivery & Empowering Communities. Founded in 2019 in the coastal town of Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa, diginu set out with an ambitious vision: to become the world’s leading food delivery app. But their goals didn’t stop there—they also aspired to create a philanthropic arm that would make a lasting impact on society. By 2022, diginu had a breakthrough: why keep their business and philanthropic visions separate? Why not merge them to drive meaningful change within South Africa and beyond? From this idea, the diginuPSP (Profit Share Program) was born—a game-changing initiative. diginuPSP allows anyone to earn income by sharing their unique referral link with friends and family. When those connections use diginu to order from any store nationwide, the referrer earns a commission on every purchase. It’s a model that democratizes income opportunities and makes a positive impact in people's lives—all at no cost to participants. No fees, no subscriptions—just rewards. Today, diginu’s prices remain unbeatable. They prioritize community impact over profit maximization, staying true to their mission of making a difference. What started as a vision in 2019 is now a reality. People across South Africa are earning from diginu. 🎄🎅The Christmas and New Year holidays are an ideal time for reflection and responsible behavior. We share some recommendations: 🍽️ 1. Choose local and seasonal products: When buying food, try to choose local and seasonal products, which will help reduce your carbon footprint. 2. Don't waste food: Plan carefully and cook in moderation to avoid waste. Millions of people around the world are starving right now. 3. Share with those in need: If you have leftover food after the holidays, consider donating it to local organizations that help the homeless or needy. 🎁 4. Wrapping and gifts: Use recycled paper or cloth bags for gift wrapping. Choose gifts that are eco-friendly and exist for long-lasting value, not just for short-term pleasure. So we can enjoy the holidays with more meaning and attention to the planet! 🌟🌎 #culligan #culliganbulgaria #recommendations
