Last month, we attended the AAOSH Collaboration Cures Conference and gained deeper insights into the connection between poor oral health and the risk of developing Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Our booth was placed right next to the Alzheimer’s Association booth and we had the opportunity to exchange valuable information with their team. At Curvy Oral Care, we believe it’s crucial to raise awareness about this topic, as it can impact any of us or our loved ones. Taking care of our oral health is more important than ever, and spreading knowledge about these connections can help us all take preventive measures. Here's an article from Columbia University that provides an easy-to-understand explanation on the subject: https://bit.ly/4dHXjfu #OralHealth #Dementia #Alzheimers #Awareness #AAOSH #CollaborationCures #HealthMatters #OralSystemicHealthConnection #curvyoralcare #oralhygiene #dentalhygiene

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 #𝐀𝐥𝐳𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 Healthcare services may need to change to ensure that all patients have equitable access to new drugs with the potential to change the course of Alzheimer’s disease, according to new research from WIPH in collaboration with University College London (UCL) partners. The modifying anti-amyloid therapies are expected to be approved imminently in the UK. First author, WIPH Professor Ruth Dobson, said: ‘The development of disease modifying therapies for #dementia has the potential to drive significant service changes. We have seen the impact of this in MS and stroke. It is crucial to understand and plan such changes proactively in order to ensure best care for all people living with dementia, regardless of initial treatment availability and eligibility.’ Read more on the study here: https://lnkd.in/dSe3-m-D

A National Academies report calls for "transformational change" in dementia research, urging increased federal support. It identifies key priorities: improving brain health screening, better understanding disease biology, and advancing prevention and treatment. The report highlights the importance of addressing mixed dementia, which affects many older adults, and promotes innovative research to accelerate progress in dementia care. https://lnkd.in/grWyUCYE #DementiaResearch #Alzheimers #ADRD #BrainHealth #DementiaPrevention #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalResearch #AlzheimersTreatment #MixedDementia #ResearchPriorities #FederalSupport #NeurodegenerativeDiseases #TransformationalChange

It’s not just that patients will be needlessly terrified by these results. It’s also that people who have a negative outlook about aging are more likely to develop health problems, including memory loss. These unnecessary tests therefore become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and the people who benefit are the pharma companies whose employees and consultants are pushing this new testing. Please see Dr. Becca Levy’s book “Breaking the Age Code” for more on how attitudes shape our health in later years. #olderhealth #dementia #Alzheimers #overdiagnosis #medicalageism https://lnkd.in/eZXagn9a

Mayo Clinic says that Dementias that are progressive get worse over time and aren't reversible. These include Alzheimer's disease, Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body dementia, Frontotemporal dementia and Mixed dementia. This is a huge category of the worst dementias, and we own the exact match domain, Dementias.com which is now for sale. This week, Eli Lillly got approved for their new Alzheimer's Drug which competes with another drug Lenaquib (costing $26.5K per year) and will cost $32K per year per patient. The size of the market for dementia drugs is expected to grow to $36.7B by 2030 with a CAGR of 9.3% from 2022 to 2030, according to Spherical Insights & Consulting. This is only part of the picture. The tremendous toll, on people and caregivers in the world, and the loss of productivity are devastating, at growing proportions. I really don't think this has been calculated at its true depths. Meanwhile, Alzheimer's Disease International says, "Someone in the world develops dementia every 3 seconds. There are over 55 million people worldwide living with dementia in 2020. This number will almost double every 20 years, reaching 78 million in 2030 and 139 million in 2050." I think *** Dementias.com *** is a tremendous asset in the war against this debilitating disease, not just from a drug treatment perspective, but in terms of the whole patient, caregiving, prevention, loss productivity, solvency and more.
