Can I promote a play on here? I'm so thrilled to be a part of the incredible cast of "An Experiment with an Air Pump" at The Island Theater. Opening night is just 4 days away, with performances May 3-12.
We've been working hard to make sure we do this script justice—one that fearlessly explores issues of ethics and gender and art and science, and demands its audience do the same. I'm biased, sure, but it really is a great one!
If you're in the Jacksonville area, come out to The Island Theater this weekend or next to support me and us and the performing arts.
Tickets are on sale now at www.theislandtheater.com.
(FYI this show is not for children.)
🎭Each issue of D&T we bring you a page-to-stage focus on a play for performing with your students. This issue, Aimee McGoldrick introduces The Wolves of Willoughby Chase ⬇️

I generate energy alongside organisations & individuals to support people with Lived Experience in the workplace.
✨How do I end up going to a show about lived experiences and trauma while on holiday from my lived experince role 😂?? Loved it! ✨
🖤Great show at the Edinburgh Fringe , and an an incredibly thought-provoking debate about class and trauma
🌱A topic that's often shied away from, even within lived experience work
✨With many of us lacking access to advantages and resources that may have been otherwise.
🖤This made me think about how we can level access to opportunities, equitable pay and resources within workplaces alongside folk with lived experience
✨And it helped me to put some more fire in my belly for what Lived Experience Advisory Directory - LEAD mission is
🌱To help workplaces to do the best they can to ensure people with lived experience have the best from them
🖤And support individuals to feel like they have an organisation behind them no matter where they've come through, lived through or are still experiencing.
✨Being valued for who you are trauma and all, shouldn't be a class thing.

PhD Researcher at Glasgow Caledonian University exploring Neds and Ned Culture (circa 1995-2008) through an Oral History of Emotions and Trauma.
160 people came along today to the Edinburgh Fringe, a traditionally middle class arena, to listen to two scheme boys from the Southside of Glasgow, discuss class, trauma, and scheme philosophies.
An amazing turnout on a Tuesday afternoon in the capital, and a full house. Thank you for the support and the discussions. Some thought-provoking points and plenty that I was unequipped to answer - at least on a professional level.
Many thanks to the Stand Comedy Club and Darren McGarvey for having me. A good chat, which as insightful as it was, barely scratched the surface.
There will be more to come though and I look forward to it. Much love. ✊️

Would be curious for thoughts here. As arts and nonprofits face new challenges with AI, what happened the last time the world was faced with a change so drastic?

I've been looking for writing or resources around the theater organizations' responses to the rise and adoption of the internet in the late 90s. It seems to me that it must have fundamentally changed how we made theater, but I can't find much about that adaptation or what the general vibe was while it was happening. So I'm turning to y'all:
Were you working in or leading a theater organization around 1997-2002? How did your organization respond to the internet? What were the questions that it brought up at the time? Was there a lot of skepticism about it? Did it actually change how we worked as arts administrators in the drastic way that it seems?
Can't wait to hear your stories!

As Planned Giving Director, David researches, identifies, and helps secure planned gifts for the theatre. It is his duty to ensure that the Orpheum’s staff and leadership team are equipped to solicit and accept these beneficial gifts. In short, Planned Giving is a donor’s intention to contribute a major gift to an organization, beyond their lifetime. Wealth Engine summed it up nicely when they said, “Unlike an annual gift (an outright gift made for current use), a planned gift is for the future." This program has rejuvenated the organizations various giving campaigns and sets up a future of success for the Orpheum Theatre.
