Jenn Chan, CSA®, CCC™ has come up with a way to not just see caregivers, but to celebrate them. Chan's Senior Shower Project is a team-wide way to recognize and rally around caregivers in the workplace. She talks about her own caregiving experience, and how this idea came to be, in her interview with Zack Demopoulos and Selma Archer, Esq., MBA for their latest episode of Working Caregivers: The Invisible Employees.

Do we know how to talk about caregiving in the workplace? Are managers equipped to know how to navigate those topics with their reports? I took this screenshot during one of the ianacare caregiver support webinars and it reminded me about the crucial role managers play in supporting caregivers in the workplace. We usually go about our work day not sharing this part of our lives at work. Maybe we are private individuals or maybe, we don't feel safe sharing. But what is the COST of not sharing this part of our lives? What should we do? Talk about it. 💞Leading with empathy means recognizing that everyone is facing their own challenges, especially when it comes to caregiving. Every situation is unique and complex, so let’s adapt how we support each individual. Try sharing your own caregiving story. 📌 If an employee’s work is slipping, or their behavior seems different, it’s often a sign something bigger is going on. Missed deadlines, changes in work hours, absenteeism, or even presenteeism—they all could point to personal struggles like caregiving. Try asking questions. Check in on people. Follow the listen 80% speak 20% rule. Giving people SPACE to talk is the most important thing. The bottom line? Pay attention to the clues, be human first, and have the hard conversations. Your people need it. #culture #caregiversupport #manager
