Tungaloy’s DoTwistBall. Is capable of contouring like a button cutter. But it is so much more. The top form helical geometry on the insert is impossible to get on a round insert. Round inserts have high rotational cutting forces DoTwist ball is almost rectangular, so inserts don’t rotate. Round insert button cutters have flat bottoms. Centrifugal forces try to throw flat bottom insert out of the pocket. The only resistance is a small screw. DoTwistBall inserts have a twisted bottom, putting the centrifugal force back into the cutter body, rather than the small screw. The cutter body is capable of running the 3D profiling inserts OR high feed inserts in the same body.
