Industry News: Growing Sierra Chain Becomes Outdoor’s Closeout Kingpin Sierra, acquired by off-price giant TJX Cos. in 2012, recently celebrated the opening of its 100th store to cement its position as the go-to place to clear end-of-season inventories for active and outdoor brands. Off-price selling remains a taboo topic for the outdoor industry because selling to the closeout channels is frowned upon by full-price retailers. TJX also doesn’t openly discuss its buying strategies, even to Wall Street, and provided minimal comments to The Daily.
