How are you supporting your Employee Resource Group (ERG) leads to prevent burnout? 😫 It’s easy for passion to turn into overload without the right guidance. Here are our top tips for supporting ERG leads: 🔹 Clarify roles: Formal roles within ERGs keep responsibilities balanced and avoid a passive approach where all responsibilities fall on the leader. 🔹 Set term limits: 1-2 year terms for ERG leads prevent burnout and encourage turnover. 🔹 Focus on impact: Encourage ERG leads to concentrate on fewer, more high-impact initiatives rather than spreading themselves too thin. 🔹 Plan ahead: Advocate for planning annual initiatives early in the year to avoid last-minute stress and hassle. 🔹 Promote delegation: Guide leaders to delegate, plan for succession and work with co-leads to share the load. #DiversityMatters #ERG #InclusionMatters #EmployeeResourceGroups #DEI

I had a conversation with a colleague the other day... His question was, "Have we gotten to a space where BS is rewarded, and education and understanding are no longer relevant or sought after?" This made me ponder. Do we have so much access to information now that people think they know and understand something if it's saved somewhere on a drive, downloaded to a library, or read a three-minute blog about it? Could bad leaders believe they are good leaders because they can access good leadership information? Regrettably, aspirational goodness does not deter negative impacts on talent. Effective leadership doesn't come by osmosis! It comes from training and practicing good habits, from prioritizing growth and continued learning of leaders, and from genuinely valuing talent. #effectiveleadership #emotionalintelligence #priorities

Are you a Taskmaster or a Leader? With #factorymindset, many of my clients display an attitude where they play a #taskmaster but think it is important to be a leader. #Burnout and #workplaceconflicts become a by-product impacting #productivity. I am exploring that in this video. 🔸 𝑴𝒊𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒗𝒔. 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕: Taskmasters focus on controlling every detail, leading to team frustration, while leaders empower their team, fostering creativity and ownership. 🔸 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒗𝒔. 𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑬𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕: Taskmasters create a high-pressure environment causing #stress, whereas leaders cultivate a supportive atmosphere that boosts morale and productivity. 🔸 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕-𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎 𝑮𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒗𝒔. Have you ever had such a big goal that you couldn’t believe it when you finally reached it? That is how I feel about being selected to speak at the #SHRM24, the SHRM Annual Conference & Expo in Chicago June 23rd - June 26th. What’s even more exciting is that I am presenting not one, but two Burnout presentations. Banishing burnout has two perspectives. Preventing burnout starts at the top with the leaders who chart the course of the organization, along with the middle managers, who carry out the mission. On the other side, the individual contributors can develop their work-life balance once the leaders and middle managers have created a well-being focused culture. My two keynotes address both of these pieces. ✅ Banish Organizational Burnout to Cultivate Thriving Teams and ✅ Banish Burnout: Move from Stress to Success Finally, I’ve also been invited to host a book signing of my Banish Burnout Toolkit. To say that I am looking forward to SHRM24 is an understatement. Will you be at SHRM 24? Please let me know. I can't wait to see my fellow human resources colleagues. #BanishBurnout #Speaker #HR #Leaders

As we all gear up for Q3 of 2024, this is a good time to ask yourself, "Where's my motivation level?" We often talk about how leaders can help rally their teams, but leaders are people too who also need the occassional and significant morale boost. HBR references the most recent Gallup polling, which states that "only 23% of people around the world are engaged at work." Whatever your organizational title, this stat is reason enough I confidently say, this article is for all of us! Filled with validation, it normalizes the "motivational dip" along with reassurance for coming out, presenting practical and creative advice. Here's to finishing strong in 2024! #WorkplaceWednesday #WorkplaceWantTo #Motivation
