Exciting news from the Solicitors Regulation Authority in the realm of legal education! 💼 The SQE1 exam is evolving with updated guidance and a new breakdown of candidate results. This detailed breakdown by practice area was announced in September and will provide invaluable insights for future candidates, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement. 🚀  For example, students retaking the FLK1 or FLK2 test can now clearly see where they need to focus their efforts for improvement. It's time to say a BIG Thank You to BARBRI SQE Prep and my wonderful tutors Suzanne Reece for SQE2 and Emily Allen for SQE1! For the first time in my life, I studied an Online Law Course that felt often more intense and challenging as the in-person GDL course that was previously the most intense and challenging thing I had ever done! I am just thankful for all the support from everyone. I am thankful for the guidance of my BARBRI tutors and especially my classmates for #SQE2. My advice for anyone embarking on the #SQE is to definitely consider studying with BARBRI SQE Prep as I had a very good experience studying with them and found their study fees reasonable. Here's my recap of the journey: 📚 400+ hours studying SQE1 Prep 📅 Took SQE1 exams on 21 and 25 Jul 2022 ⌛ 11 weeks wait for the results ❌ SQE1 first attempt FAILED 📚 400+ hours studying SQE1 Prep again 📅 Took SQE1 exams on 26 and 30 Jan 2023 ⌛ 7 weeks wait for the results ✅ SQE1 second attempt PASSED 📚 300+ hours studying and tutorials SQE2 Prep 📅 Took SQE2 exams on 23-24 Oct and 30 Oct - 01 Nov 2023 ⌛ 15 weeks wait for the results ✅ SQE2 first attempt PASSED This was whilst having a family life with my wife and two daughters, our puppy Kaylie, working full-time as a Paralegal and helping with my family construction marketing business. Tired? Yes. Happy? I've actually had a bit of a down period with being unwell in the last week. Don't become a statistic. The SQE1 pass rate is around 53%. We think this is because students treat the SQE1 like any other exam. Perhaps providers don't help by naming their courses 'SQE1 prep'. The thing is - it is hard to simply 'prep' for the SQE1. It's a competence exam. To pass, you have to be able to think like a day-one qualified lawyer. 'Day-one' lawyers can apply the legal concepts they have absorbed in their work. They can draw on real life events to bring their knowledge to life. Day one lawyers have not accrued their knowledge solely by reading text books. They have applied their learning and research to cases. That is why we include pro-bono work alongside our SQE1 training. We think success comes with experience over time. We also think that everyone, regardless of background, deserves access to legal experience. Our team of professional tutors provide regular, bespoke assessments and tell you when you are ready to take the exam.
