Shhhh… Quiet environments are important for people with intellectual disabilities as they reduce sensory overload and create a calming atmosphere, allowing for better focus and emotional regulation. Excessive noise can be overwhelming, leading to anxiety or difficulty processing information. A peaceful setting supports learning, communication, and overall well-being, helping individuals feel more comfortable and engaged in their surroundings. #benjicare #disability #ndis #disabilityawareness #inclusion #specialneeds #accessibility #disabilityadvocate #disabilityrights #abilitynotdisability #diversity #autism #acceptance #community #support #inclusionmatters #goldcoastdisability #brisbanedisability #perthdisability

Colour blindness or colour vision deficiency (CVD) is the decreased ability to see colour or differences in colour. The severity of colour blindness ranges from mostly unnoticeable to full absence of colour perception. Although colour blindness is considered only a minor disability, it does not make it any less significant than any other disabilities. Unfortunately, there's no cure for colour blindness right now, and special glasses can't give a colourblind person normal colour vision, but they could help some colours look more vibrant or noticeable. #benjicare #disability #ndis #disabilityawareness #inclusion #specialneeds #accessibility #disabilityadvocate #disabilityrights #abilitynotdisability #diversity #autism #acceptance #community #support #inclusionmatters #goldcoastdisability #brisbanedisability #colourblind

People with disabilities often value comfort because it helps them manage sensory sensitivities and reduce the anxiety or stress that can arise from overwhelming environments. Many individuals with intellectual disabilities are more sensitive to stimuli like noise, light, textures, and social interactions, which can make certain situations uncomfortable or distressing. Seeking comfort, whether through familiar routines, sensory-friendly spaces, or preferred objects, allows them to create a sense of security and stability. This focus on comfort helps them navigate the world with greater ease and feel more grounded in their daily lives. How can we make your life more comfortable today? #benjicare #disability #ndis #disabilityawareness #inclusion #specialneeds #accessibility #disabilityadvocate #disabilityrights #abilitynotdisability #diversity #autism #acceptance #community #support #inclusionmatters #goldcoastdisability #brisbanedisability

S is for Silence.. People with intellectual disabilities often prefer quiet environments because they may have heightened sensitivity to sensory stimuli, including noise. Loud or chaotic surroundings can overwhelm them, making it difficult to process information or feel comfortable. A quieter setting helps reduce anxiety, allows for better focus, and creates a more calming atmosphere, which can improve their ability to communicate and engage with others. It also minimizes distractions, supporting their emotional well-being and promoting a sense of safety. #benjicare #disability #ndis #disabilityawareness #inclusion #specialneeds #accessibility #disabilityadvocate #disabilityrights #abilitynotdisability #diversity #autism #acceptance #community #support #inclusionmatters #goldcoastdisability #brisbanedisability #perthdisability

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can experience ice and cold differently than anyone else. As the warmer weather creeps up on us, many of us tend to reach for ice to cool down; it can be a quick fix to place ice on your wrists, back of your neck, or suck on an ice cube. Individuals with compromised immune systems can be vulnerable, so stay one step ahead and keep an eye on the signs. Keeping an ice cube in one place for too long can cause frost bites, no matter how warm the weather is. #benjicare #disability #ndis #disabilityawareness #inclusion #specialneeds #accessibility #disabilityadvocate #disabilityrights #abilitynotdisability #diversity #autism #acceptance #community #support #inclusionmatters #goldcoastdisability #brisbanedisability
