🛑 Is your MedTech organization prepared to combat the rising threat of ransomware? 🛑 At the 2024 Cybersecurity Summit by AdvaMed, I attended the session "Securing Med Devices and the Impact of Ransomware on IoMT" presented by Chris Reed, Sr. Director of Cybersecurity Policy at Medtronic. Chris highlighted that ransomware attacks on healthcare have surged by over 300% since 2015, posing significant risks to patient safety. Even though medical devices aren't typically the entry point, they can still be affected, leading to disrupted workflows and potential harm. Here's a checklist to strengthen your defenses: ✅ Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Partner with HDOs to enhance device resilience and cybersecurity readiness. ✅ Assess Workflow Impacts: Understand how network outages affect staff and patient care, even if devices operate independently. ✅ Enhance Data Transparency: Support centralized incident reporting to comprehend ransomware's impact on medical devices better. ✅ Implement Proactive Measures: Regularly patch and update devices to increase resilience against cyber threats. ✅ Engage in Industry Communication: Share information within the industry to stay ahead of emerging threats. It's crucial for us in the MedTech industry to think beyond our devices and address the broader ecosystem to ensure patient safety. #MedTech #Cybersecurity #Ransomware #PatientSafety
