AFRICA HEADING into the FUTURE with YESTERDAY's TECHNOLOGY and SOLUTION? From Nairobi train station there are only four express departures on a normal day in March. Several rows of seats remain empty in the compartments, as they should have been filled up. Freight traffic has neither taken off as much as prospected. An Bord Pleanála have approved the Railway Order application to extend the electrified DART network from Hazelhatch & Celbridge to Heuston Station and the South city via Phoenix Park Tunnel. The project will quadruple customer capacity and will provide a greatly enhanced and more sustainable transport option for communities in Hazelhatch & Celbridge, Adamstown, Clondalkin & Fonthill, Parkwest & Cherry Orchard, Drumcondra and at a new station at Heuston West.
