Part 4 Looking at Failure Through a LIT Lens My captivating conversation with Dr. Jeff Karp, author of LIT: Life Ignition Tools Failure.... How can we look at failure, through the lens of a lit mind? Jeff inspires us by sharing the science behind looking at failure with new eyes so that we no longer need to indulge shame feelings instead we need to see learning as the primary goal versus success. Adapting that learning to the next iteration is the power move in life. I love to have courageous conversations with people that align with the work that I came to do on this planet. Jeff has inspired me in a 1000 different ways and he provides the science behind the notions that we can change the world with an awakened mind. And he provides simple yet evidence based tools to awaken and effect change for oneself and the world. Jeff Karp PhD is an acclaimed mentor and biomedical engineering professor at Harvard Medical School and MIT a distinguished chair at Brigham and Women's hospital and a fellow of the National Academy of inventors. He has dedicated his research to bio inspired medical problem solving and his lab technologies have led to the formation of 12 companies. The technologies they have developed include a tissue blue that can seal holes inside of beating heart! Wow other innovations targeted therapy for osteoarthritis, Crohn's disease and brain disorders including smart needles that automatically stop when they reach their target a nasal spray that neutralizes pathogens and immunotherapy approaches to annihilate cancer. Doctor Karp also is the head of innovation at Geoversity, natures university.. a rainforest Conservancy located in one of the top biodiversity hot spots in the world. He was selected as the outstanding faculty undergraduate mentor among all of faculty at MIT and the top graduate student mentor at Harvard MIT students doctor karp lives in Brookline MA with his wife and children and two cavalier King Charles spaniels. Dr. Slaton Live™. Describes the Need to Realize the value of home, school, neighborhood, and workplace Learning. There is a need to learn how to process the value of self-experience that is basic to how you learn to accept and address self-defeating behaviors. Starting with your sense of feel for self. Your sense of feel for self, is what tells you about your brain’s role in this process loop. The things you need to be able to do that help navigate the interaction between the self; brain, body, and senses as you engage with others and the environment.”
