🩸 DYP Blood Drive – February/March 2025! 🩸 Calling all DYP members and non-members! We’re teaming up with the Dunedin NZ Blood Service for a special blood donation drive in February/March 2025 — and we want YOU to be part of this life-saving initiative! 💪❤️ @nzbloodservicedunedin How it works: 1. ⚡️Check your eligibility: To participate, you must first review the eligibility criteria form that will be available in our December newsletter-It’s important to see if you’re eligible to donate. 2. ⚡️Questions? If you’re unsure about your eligibility, you can always call NZ Blood Service directly to speak with a nurse who can answer any questions. (0800 448 3255) 3. ⚡️Donate as a group or individually: We plan to book group donation days, but you can also donate on any day that works for you — but we will give more details closer to the time to assist with this! 🗣️Did you know? Less than 4% of eligible adults in New Zealand donate blood, and together we can change that! 🩸 Before we finalize everything, we need to know how many people are keen to take part in this amazing cause. If you’re interested, let us know and be ready to sign up when the time comes! ‼️Let’s make a difference, together!‼️ #DYP #BloodDrive2025 #SaveLives #DonateBlood #Dunedin #NZBloodService #CommunityImpact #BeTheOne

Have you given blood recently? 🩸 Did you know that just 1 hour ⏰ of your time can help save up to 3 lives! 🧍♀️🧍♂️🧍 On average 4,300 blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of hospitals and the UK. To achieve this the NHS would need to attract 140,000 new donors and again to replace those who can no longer donate for Health or other reasons. It's important to encourage more young people to donate between the ages 17-35 to ensure we have enough blood for the future. 🩸 What to expect when you go to donate blood: 1. Complete a health check questionnaire 2. Have a chat about your health to make sure that it is safe for you to give blood 3. Sit down and donate blood – This takes about 10 minutes 4. Rest for 15 minutes afterwards – Have a drink and a snack 🥳And you’re done! Feel proud that your donation will help save up to 3 lives. We discuss the topic further in our latest blog, talking about who can and can't donate blood and who your blood is helping 😊 https://lnkd.in/duDy_35S You can register to donate blood in England here: www.blood.co.uk #BloodDonation #GiveBlood

Every day, thousands of people around the world are given a second chance at life thanks to the generosity of donors. They need you. 💉 How can you help? 1️⃣ Donate Now: Your contribution, no matter how small, can save a life. 2️⃣ Raise Awareness: Make a reel, use the hashtag #savealifechallenge, and tag 3 friends to join this mission. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), of the 112.5 million blood donations collected globally, approximately half of these are collected in high-income countries – home to only 19% of the world’s population. The blood donation rate in high-income countries is 33.1 donations per 1000 people, 11.7 in middle-income countries and only 4.6 in low-income countries. By donating blood on #WorldBloodDonorDay, you can help change the statistics – and save lives. #WorldBloodDonorDay #RocheAfrica #RocheDiagnostics

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Scott Pearce from New Zealand Blood Service recently and one thing is clear. NZ Blood need our support. I have to admit as I have had a heart attack I am not able to donate. Scott can attest to how gutted I was at this (and pretty scared of the needle too!). But if I can't donate I will do what I can to help. Here's some thing's we spoke about Did you know just one donation can save up to three lives? Every week, New Zealand requires over 5,000 blood donations to meet the needs of those in hospitals. We just aren't getting near that level of donation. Why donate blood? Save lives: Every donation is a chance to make a real difference. The attached picture shows where blood donations go. Community impact: Support your local community by helping those in need. Pay it forward: Your generosity could one day benefit you or your loved ones. Join a lifesaving team: Be part of an extraordinary group dedicated to saving lives. Ensure a steady supply: Regular donations ensure blood is always available. Less than 4% of eligible New Zealanders donate blood. Yes you read that right. Less than 4%! Join the cause today and help make a lasting impact! Just remember not all heroes wear capes. I can only imagine the feeling you would get when your phone pings to say your blood has been used to save a life. At Te Pūkenga we host blood drives, and I challenge other organisations to do the same or if you don't have the facilities to do so reach out and we can work together! Visit the New Zealand Blood Service website to find a donation center near you and learn more about eligibility requirements. Let's work together to ensure a steady supply of blood for those in need. #DonateBlood #SaveLives #CommunityImpact #NewZealandBloodService
